Great drive although they were doing road construction on the top. Can't believe the elevation was 9,100!

We extended a trip into southern Montana a day because I had heard this canyon was a gorgeous drive. It wasn't ugly or anything, but with our eyes so used to Glacier, Grand Tetons, Arches, Bryce and Zion National Parks, it just seemed only so-so.

We live part of the time in Florida and part of the time in Montana. We sometimes make the trip by road.. From Montana to South Florida, there is some nice scenery, but if you asked me to name a stretch of road prettier than...More

As in almost all of Montana Rocky Mountain areas, the scenery is breath taking. Gods work at its finest.

Long driving vistas replete with wildlife and snow in May! Roads were in good shape and many coffee huts along the way.

Around every turn you will find a different view. Drive carefully during winter months and look for wild animals down in the river and look up on mountainsides for goats

this is one of the most scenic drives in SW Montana- soaring cliffs, beautiful river alongside road, forests and wildlife. Driver must pay attention to road as curves can be tough. Definitely worth the drive to Big Sky or West Yellowstone

Highway 191 follows the river bottom the entire trip from Bozeman to the town of West Yellowstone. Lovely scenic drive that we have done many times. Absolutely no fears of high mountain driving. There are more ups and... More

I have been to the Gallatin Canyon/Valley many times, but never in winter, so I cannot say much. Also, my recommendation is simply to drive it and explore. You can't go wrong. You might want to visit the Big Sky resort... More
