The Missouri River and the dams that form major lakes in the area provide great fishing opportunities.

We were there in the dead of summer and caught some great trout, Rainbows and Brownies. The largest checked in at 7lbs, 8 ozs. Not bad for fishing in July. Beautiful area.

One of the best and most scenic rivers in the western US. Lots of put-ins and take-outs. River is pretty easy - no rapids and if you want to hit a rock you'll have to buy one.

Had a great time fly fishing the Mo. The spring conditions were in full force but the fishing was still good.

We have explored most of the Missouri from it's headwaters to Great Falls. Great fishing and floating. Day trips or I hope someday to run the full length to the Mississippi.

The day we went the weather was terrible but it was still more than worth it. The scenery is fantastic in ANY weather. Plan a bit better than we did and you'll LOVE this place.

The significance of the Missouri River is unparalleled in American History. Lewis and Clark, trappers, traders, Indian dug out canoes, Paddle Steamers, modern camping, fishing, boating etc. It thrills me overtime I see this river.

This was a wonderful surprise as we visited Helena. It is probably closed for the season now, but if you visit Helena, be sure to include this attraction to your list. It's wonderfully informative and scenic and the "gate" is amazing!

I have been on outing to the Missouri River many times on rafts, and in kayaks I have never not had a good day. The scenery is beautiful, even with many others on the river it still manages to give you the feeling of peace...More

You do not need 4WD, but a Class C RV has not place to park at the dam. The road is hard packed gravel but very narrow. Stunning views of the river and the lake at the dam. BLM park before you head down the...More
