Tongue River Winery, established in 2010, with a 3-acre vineyard and orchard has the only commercial vineyard in the eastern 3/4 of Montana. The Vineyard grows several exotic fruits, and the winery crafts numerous award winning wines from hardy northern grapes and other fruits. Open year round, the winery offers free wine tastings for adults and has bottled water, pop and wine for sale. Tours and visits with the winemakers are generally available.

Stop in and see Bob, Marilyn and Josh for a great tour of their beautiful vinyard and winery. Delicous wines made mostly with fruits and grapes grown on their gorgeous acreage by the Tongue River in Miles City.

Thanks, Mandi....you were our first retail partner, and proclaimed from the start that we'd be a success. We owe some of our spirit to you and your Buy Monana store in Miles City. Thanks for believing in us! More

This winery is the cutest! The father and son duo have poured their hearts and souls into this winery and they are passionate about what they do. We tried mostly sweet-fruit wines and they were all delicious. We walked away with four bottles to share with our family and friends. This darling little winery is a must stop!

Sorry I didn't respond sooner, Casey. We've been so busy the last couple of months "pouring our hearts and souls" (to use your words!) into this fall's wine production, and sometimes actually pouring a little wine into ourselves! We hope Mother Nature will be kinder this spring than the last couple of years, and give us a break from late... More

We are visiting wineries in every state and stopped by Tongue River Winery for state #49. Their wines are very good. But as always what earns 5 stars is personal attention. The winery is pretty small and we got there just after they got done picking grapes. We chatted with them as they showed us a variety of wines they... More

Thanks for the kind words, Rick. And yes, we're small, but we live right next to the vineyard, so it's never any trouble to drop what we're doing and meet new wine friends! We might be small in size, but we're large in variety and spirit! Come again, any time! We're glad we helped you get your 49th state wine... More

Because we have a small vineyard of our own, in south central Montana, we’d wanted to visit and tour the Tongue River Winery for several years, and finally made it last month. What a great place! Bob was so gracious in showing us around the vineyards and sharing his knowledge with us. And the wines are amazing! We loved the... More

We're glad you liked the wines you tasted and the tour. And yes, we think Warm Front is one of our best wines, and we'll have a lot of it this harvest. We love having visitors, and especially enjoy talking with fellow growers and winemakers. Stop any time you are going through and see what's new! More

We arrived right at 2:00 on a Sunday and followed the instructions on the door to summon the owners by phone. We enjoyed playing with kittens under the front step while we waited about three minutes for the owner. The winery is a nice setting built completely by the owner. It has a great view of the vineyards and interesting... More

Thanks for the nice review. Actually, my wife and son and I own the winery as a small family business. We take turns visiting with guests, depending on whose job has the most priority. You got me (Bob) since I was most freed up that day! We believe strongly in cooperating with and supporting other wineries and grape and fruit... More

This was our first visit to Tongue River Winery and had a great time. Beautiful tasting room and the owner was gracious. Spent hours with him not only going over his various wines but explaining how he got into the wine making business. Ended with a tour of his operation. Will definitely be back.

Part of the fun in running a winery is getting to know the visitors and sharing what we've learned. We're always glad to take time when we can with customers. In the heat of the summer (literally!) we might be too busy to take much time, but a good break on a hot day is always nice for us too!... More

We did wine tastings with son as the parents were out of town. They bottle right on site. They have award winning wines. We bought 3 bottles of wine. Hi Chrizzy... That honeysuckle fruit wine is known as HASKAP! My wife and I were in Saskatoon at Haskap days, looking at the new larger fruited varieties bred at the Univ. of Saskatchewan. We were the first US winery to produce this wine. I'm glad Josh was able to meet with you, and we're glad you liked our wines! Cell... More

We finally were able to visit this charming winery and I'm so glad we did. Bob, Marilyn and Josh are such down to earth and gracious hosts, and the wine is Montana's finest. All three of us are driven by a passion for what we grow and produce, and we're glad that passion shows through. Having people call us on our cell-phones when they arrive instead of posting standard visiting hours frees up a lot of time for vineyard work, harvesting and paperwork at home. Great wines Josh was very informative and was a pleasure to speak with. This winery was one of the best I have been to in years across the US. Also very creative with their fruit wines. The sweetie pie is a great fruit wine. Definitely a must visit if you are in the area.
