We read that if you want to see wildlife, avoid midday as it gets hot and you might not see any animals. We got to the visitors center around 9:30am. Cost is $5 per car to drive the loop, or free if you have an...More

My wife and I visited the National Bison Range by chance. We stopped in just hoping to see a few bison or maybe even an elk. A short visit to the visitor center got us started. The visitor center has a marvelous stuffed bison to...More

On our trip to Glacier, we stopped here. We were skeptical about doing the full loop tour, but within 15 minutes, we saw a black bear and a lot of bison and the loop just kept getting better. This was every bit as good as...More

Such a wonderful opportunity to view the big sky views of Montana with wildlife. You'll see bison, antelope, deer, birds and possibly a rattlesnake. Perfectly safe in your car as you drive through the preserve. There are opportunities for hiking and picnicking at a few...More

Different people will have diametrically opposite views here- all depends on how much wildlife you encounter. We did the short drive and did see some bison but nothing else. From the previous reviews, some were lucky enough to see much more. We enjoyed our visit...More

You can learn about Bison. You can get very close to see them from the car. Great experience for all ages.

This place is excellent to learn about the bison (not buffalo) and see and experience the bison up close. We drove the short route in our RV, and it was ok to drive. We saw many bison, an eagle, pronghorn antilopes, mule deers and elk....More

Minimum 2-3 hours if you simply drive without lingering to observe animal activity/ behavior or short hiking opportunities. Drive is actually determined by animal activity and your own interest in observation. A picnic area... More

Are the number of bison stable year round? I was told that I may not see any in August as they move out of the park due to heat. Thanks
