We decided to add the Lewis and Clark Caverns into our itinerary for the day. It made an excellent break on our journey. We paid $12 entrance pp (no seniors rate) and waited a short while for our 2 hour tour to begin. There is a fairly steep walk up to the cavern entrance which you can take at your... More

I've been wanting to get to the caverns in winter for one of their (partially) candlelit tours for a few years now, and we finally did. Our tour guide, Jim, was as sweet-natured a person as you could wish for, and I think his gentle/silly jokes and banter do a good job of putting people at ease in what can... More

First trip into the caverns 1974. Second trip 1978? Back then they had a really cool mechanical lift like a set of bleachers that everyone rode up to the top. Whatever happened to that? not sure I could walk it now. The formations in the caves are awesome..

I was unsure of what to expect here, but we were driving from Glacier National Park to Yellowstone so we decided to stop. I'm so glad we did! The hill leading up to the entrance of the cavern is ....tough. Get there early enough before the tour starts to have time to take a few rest breaks. Coming from Florida,... More

Ready to hike15 minutes uphill? Ready to duck into a cavern? Ready for the sensation of total darkness when they turn out the lights? Then you are ready to book a tour of the Lewis and Clark Caverns State Park in Montana! You will need a fleece or light jacket, good walking shoes. Be ready to slide down a chute.... More

My mother in law who is 66, really wanted to go here. I was a little worried the caves would be too difficult for her to maneuver, but she did it and it was amazing. To think about how these caves were formed and carved for visitors is quite amazing. Be ready to walk, up hill, down hill, slide down... More

What impressed me the most was the fact that they didn't insist or even recommend that you wear hard hats even though some of the areas were tight and you had to duck. The tour through the caverns was entertaining and interesting. It took about 2 hours and was definitely time well spent. There were lots of steps once inside... More

I must admit I am reviewing this based on only a partial experience. Arriving at the visitors center you are given a small card noting the conditions you need to meet in order to visit the cavern. Having been in dozens of caves both commercial and National Park Service I just glanced at it. Do not make that mistake nor... More

If you like caves, you have to stop here. From the parking area, there is a 3/4 mile walk up hill to get to the entrance. On a hot day, take your time. Bring a light weight jacket, it is very cool in the cave. The tour is approximately 2-1/2 hours. The history of the caves is great and what... More
