Yellowstone Alpen Guides has operated small group and private tours in Yellowstone for 29 years. Our naturalist/guides are experts in all things Yellowstone and are fun travel companions. They will help you experience the extraordinary wonders the Park has to offer during both winter and summer. Small group size guarantees you a personalized touch not found on most tours. A company with experienced long-term employees, we pay close attention to detail and quality and strive to be the premier guiding company in Yellowstone and the surrounding area. Join us as we explore this delicate ecosystem that is home to Old Faithful and two-thirds of the world’s geysers; where grizzly bears, wolves and other abundant wildlife roam freely. We cater to individuals, families with children and groups of all sizes. We have lodging and tour packages available; one call will take care of your Yellowstone vacation planning needs. Winter snowcoach tours operate daily to Old Faithful and the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. We offer the option of cross-country skiing or snowshoeing on our trips, and customized charters are also available. We provide shuttle services to guests staying at the Old Faithful Snow Lodge, and offer charter service to the North* (Mammoth/Gardiner) and South* (Jackson Hole) gates of the Park. Our snowcoaches are the classic, historical bombardiers, modernized for comfort and low emissions, made for over-snow travel. Summer tours include Lower Loop, Evening Wildlife Safaris, kayak tours and private customized tours to meet your desires. Whether you are a first time Yellowstone visitor or are returning for your next adventure, we can help plan your itinerary. Your trip can include things like wildlife watching, a day hike to a backcountry geyser basin, a photography safari, swimming in a thermally heated river, and seeing the sites that make Yellowstone America’s grandest Park. Alpen Guides believes it is important to protect and preserve our national treasures. We generously donate to the worthy Yellowstone Park Foundation, the West Yellowstone Foundation, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Trout Unlimited, and many other organizations dedicated to protecting the environment.

The Old Faithful Biscuit Basin Snowcoach Tour was the perfect way to take in a winter day in Yellowstone park. Riding in a refurbished 1955 Bombardier, we saw elk, bison, and coyotes galore as well as a baldheaded eagle. Our guide, Chris, was phenomenal--energetic, knowledgeable, accommodating, and quite funny. We chose to do the snowshoe trip, and Chris helped us... More

Our group for 4 booked the 1959's bombardier which seats 8. The book in seemed to be a waiting game but once we were appointed to Mike in the 'kitty' the day automatically turned great! Mike was so knowledgable, intelligent and damn funny. Kitty was a comfy gal an the open top made seeing the wildlife easy and incredible. We... More

We were on a February tour with a number of couples, singles and adult children to see Old Faithful and learn about the natural and human history of Yellowstone. Our guide, "John", gave us an engaging running commentary on the wildlife we saw, the geology of the park, and history from the formation of the mountains and calderas, through settlement... More

Zach was our guide on our Snow Coach trip through Yellowstone National Park. He was great! Very knowledgeable and nice and pointed out all sorts of wildlife. Stopped for numerous photo shoots, geyser visits, and bison, bald eagle, elk, swan, ermine sightings! I highly recommend this tour company for your Yellowstone visit. Probably not great for very little kids.

Wow, what a trip of a lifetime, enjoying a beautiful setting in the winter time, a must see! To travel in a 1950 vintage snow Bombardier bus was the way to go, and the most reliable and not to mention many pics by others. But most of all our guide 'Les' made the trip worthwhile, and the knowledge he shared... More

It was such fun to take a vintage bombardier snow coach into Yellowstone for the day! What style to ride in. Our coach held 8 people and we dropped 4 of them off partway into the park for them to ski/snowshoe up to meet us at Old Faithful. So we really had our own private guide for half of the... More

Husband and I used Alpen Guides for our one and only winter tour of Yellowstone a number of years ago. I cannot give them a high enough rating for our experience. The small snow machines we rode in were comfortable with amply leg room yet intimate enough for quiet conversation with the two other couples who rode with us. With... More

There are three types of tours to take in Yellowstone in the winter 1. Snowmobile. They can be fun but you spend your time driving and not looking around. Plus you are in a big group that takes time to get off and on the mobiles 2. Large tour bus. They are comfortable and you can look around but you... More

Had a fantastic bombardier snowcoach trip with Jon Cox. He even recommended a great place to grab a bite. Thanks again, we will be back for sure.
