We spent several hours at the museum on a Sunday afternoon. We found the museum to be very pleasant and interesting, a good example of a living history museum. The interpreters were helpful in answering our questions about the houses and daily activities. There were no demonstrations that included cooking or gardening on the day we visited which would have... More

Love going here with grandkids or to attend any of the very many adult events they host. Railroad Town is great with its in costume workers - blacksmith, miliner, etc. In the main building they have beautiful works of art displayed.

Housed in a beautiful building by noted Architect Edward Durell Stone, its two story exhibition space houses artwork on the first floor, and historical artifacts and photos depicting the history of Grand Island and the regional prairie. Beautifully displayed with excellent didactics, these displays are not overcrowded, and really an example of how history should be presented in a museum.... More

Jerry - thank you for the kind words. We will be doing some work on the Fonner Rotunda in the next few months and hopefully that takes care of some of the "crowded" issues. Thanks, again, for your visit. More

We enjoyed the Stuhr, especially the Wings over the Platte art show and sale. The permanent exhibits are well crafted and of broad interest. Nice gift shop and beautiful building.

Definitely a great place to visit with the family. Our grandchildren are young, but like the rail town, the blacksmith, the candy shop and more. We also did the inside displays which they liked. Historically accurate, interesting, and worth a couple of hours.

My grand son's were with me for a couple days, We decided that a visit to the Stuhr Museum would be a great place for them to see the history and enjoy the day. They dressed in period clothing, looked at all the buildings and school house and church. the were very impressed.

Outside houses and buildings, people in period dressed clothing that act like they live in the time , fantastic celebrations, a new head person who is helping it out a ton! Newly remodled amazingness. I have been going here since I was a baby. This place is neat and needs more recognition among young and old! The 4th of July... More

The Stuhr Museum has a little something to offer for everyone. They have a special kids section in the main building where little ones can pretend to live in days past. The museum has many displays that give you an eye opening look of days gone by....what instruments doctors used, what firefighters looked like with their horse drawn wagons, a... More
