Rails Museum

Nice stop. Able to climb into a steam train engine and caboose. Walking around, looking into 1 room schoolhouse, blacksmith shop, go into a tepee. Self guided tour is free.

My brother was visiting from the UK and we had exhausted all things to do in a few days. I drive past this Museum daily and never really thought about visiting but so glad we did. I'd call this a hidden gem. We had a guided tour and everything was explained to us. We learned a lot. They are expanding... More

We went by on a Sunday afternoon and Ross gave us a great tour of all the old buildings etc. It was great to see a young man volunteering on a Sunday afternoon to share the history of Kearney Nebraska and surrounding area

Very clean place. You can learn a lot about the early days of the west. My two grandkids loved the place.

The caboose and locomotive were very interesting. The guide took us around to all the buildings and told us all about their history. The blacksmith shop was also interesting. Very worthwhile for the price.

Jennifer guided us through the museum lasting an hour on board the caboose, locomotive, and the historic, prairie buildings such as an historic hotel, working blacksmith and livery stable. There's about 7-8 buildings total. Jennifer is very knowledgeable and friendly. We're glad we stopped by.

Was expecting a little more train stuff.Everything worth seeing would take about 5 minutes.I hear there are more train things in North Platte.Would not recommend for train buffs but there were some old buildings you can tour for a small fee if that is your thing!

The Trails and Rails Museum is full of Nebraska history. Our tour guide said it was his first time giving a tour but he did a very professional and entertaining tour. They have several historic buildings to tour plus a steam locomotive and a caboose. Worth the trip to see.
