We enjoyed looking around the gift shop and going up to the lookout tower. Unfortunately, the ex railroad employee who was supposed to be answering questions and showing you around was immersed in a conversation with a friend, and didn't even acknowledge us. It would have been nice if he had welcomed us and given us some information about what... More

The Golden Spike Tower is shaped like a railroad spike. At the top floor we got a bird's eye view of the Bailey Yard, the largest one in the world where thousands of train cars pass through daily. A former railroad man of 42 years' service told us of his first-hand experiences and facts about railroads in general. He said... More

Good way to oversee the railyard and talk to knowledgeable volunteers about the process of trains headed east or west. . Pricey for families. ..may be better to drive around the railyard. Gift shop full of railroad stuff would be loved by kids. Enjoyable place to watch all the trains from a birds eye view for those who love trains.

It costs $6 per senior adult to go up in the 8 story tall Golden Spike Tower. You can see the huge train yards of the Union Pacific. You can watch full trains come into the yards and get broken down and cars divided among 88 tracks to rebuild new trains that will head out to various other cities Eastbabd... More

There is so much going on in the yard, it can be hard to keep track of everything. It sounds like you were able to see quite a bit during you visit. Thank you for your visit! More

Thoroughly enjoyed this experience. We went to both floors that are accessible in the tower. Learned about what goes on in the worlds largest RR yard. Staff was friendly & helpful - more than willing to answer questions. Neat gift shop without the normal 'junky' stuff. Well worth the hour we spent at the Golden Spike Visitors Center.

if you are a railroad buff this is the place for you. you have a small musuem at the bottom but go up the elevator to the top floors and you can look out over the every day workings of the union pacific railroad.

This was a long awaited event. It was educational and enjoyable. They had folks there to answer your questions and had a great view all around. They also have items for sale and wonderful folks to assist you ... I would go back and soak up more for sure.

Wonderful experience for a reasonable fee. They gave a discount for AAA membership. The volunteer was very knowledgeable. Fun to watch and learn about the trains of the past. Lots of toys available to purchase.
