For us East Coasters, this place was great! A lot of new birds for our Life List. About 100 acres (?) and quite a few ponds plus the surrounding desert area made for quite a few enjoyable hours checking out unfamiliar birds. The staff were great >> very friendly and eager to help and educate. Plus it's free!

The preserve is a must see for our family since discovering it last year. It has birds we wouldn't see at home...and some we do. There is a Canada goose that wanders right up to you. We have a teen in a wheelchair as well as his service dog. The preserve is accessible with most trails being paved.

You don't have to be an avid birder to be entranced by what you see in this bird preserve. Even without the aid of binoculars you can be close to beautiful and exotic species such as Avocets, Stilts, Marsh hens and coots. Even the kids can get a good look from the boardwalks and viewing platforms. Guides are available, and... More

The guy who was at the desk was very confusing trying to sign all 10 people in line at once and if we had something else to do we would have left. Since it was free we decided to stay and check it out. They do not have paved paths, not to much shade around and some benches to sit... More

If you're thinking about visiting this place, then presumably you are NOT looking for glitz and glamor...or perhaps looking to escape it! I'm not a "birder" but I do enjoy being out in nature. I spent 2 hours strolling, enjoying the birds on the various ponds, and also talking to the staff at the front desk about the area in... More

This is a little known gem in Henderson and it is FREE. Located near the Silver Bowl off Boulder Highway, the 9 ponds and walking trails provide a beautiful environment for bird and wildlife viewing. Bird enthusiasts, photographers, and those who just want to see and hear the sounds of nature can all enjoy this attraction. There is shade. There... More

We enjoyed an hour at this Preseve watching local birds and waterfowl. However, can't rate it very highly as it was sparsely populated the time we were there and we did not see much activity. Not sure if that was simply the time of day we visited or just the fact that it is in the desert and birds are... More

A wonderful half-day trip to take to get you away from all the lights and bells. Locals know the secrets :)

My husband and I went to the Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve expecting to take a 15 minute stroll and hop back in the car. 90 minutes later, we got back to the car and were still chatting at this "owl faced" hawk we saw, the bight red/orange eyes of the mud ducks and the song birds. We are not birding... More
