One of the better moderate hikes in Tahoe

I was going crazy reading others' reviews when trying to figure out whether I should do this with my 5-year-old. My kid is no hiking prodigy, but he has done some 2-3 mile hikes with hills near our home, so I was willing to give this a shot. However, words such as "strenuous" and "dangerous" in other reviews almost talked... More

This a must visit when in South Lake Tahoe area and for that reason, it is very crowded. If you want to do a manageable hike with the family, this is a good one. Beware you will not be alone at least up to the falls, then it thins out a bit as the hike increases slightly in difficulty. The... More

This is a great hike with a waterfall along the way and ending at a very nice little alpine lake. The trail is uphill and can be a good workout. You get great views of Tahoe and a perfect little lake for a picnic lunch. Great for families. The trail can be crowded at times, since it's such a popular... More

This place is spectacular. It was the perfect place to ask my girlfriend to marry me. The pristine water and the snow top mountains in the background is absolutely breathtaking. The hike to the lake is easy too. Lots of steps but completely bearable. Although your surroundings while getting there are nice, the lake is the true gem. Don't miss... More

The 2 hour round-trip moderate difficulty trail ends at eagle lake. Beautiful, serene, picturesque and quiet. A must for hikers in the area. The trail is marked and unambiguous.

The hike was not bad. I am not a fit person but I made it. The scenery along the way was amazing. You can even see Emerald Bay. The Lake was beautiful; serene, calm and inviting but we did not swim although some people swam that day. We brought sandwiches and fruit with us so we had a picnic there... More

Hiking past Upper Eagle Falls and looking down at Emerald Bay on the way. It is about 1 mile each way, up on the way and down back. Good exercise.
