Culloden Battlefield where the Jacobite forces faced the British army in 1746. This battle marked the decisive collapse of the Jacobite uprising and the beginning of the integration of the Highlands into the British Kingdom. A Visitor's Center has been established to help in the...More

This site can be overwhelming, it is large. We had an excellent guide, which made all the difference. The guide use to work here and it showed. The history of the battle was wonderfully choreographed during our visit.

A must for history buffs in the area. The centre stands on the site of the famous Jacobite battle of the 16th April 1746, a battle which lasted only twenty minutes and saw the destruction of the Jacobite forces by the English and is now...More

If you watch "Outlander" you know what Culloden means to the Scotch. April 1746 the British defeated the Jacobites in 1 hour and the Highland Culture was no more. If you plan on visiting Culloden, I suggest that you learn a bit about the Jacobites...More

I had thought before visiting this center that Culloden was the culmination of Scots vs English....not! It's better understood in view of rights of kingship and Catholic vs Protestant ideas. The visitors centre charges 2 pounds for parking - National Trust members park for free but there are parking spaces half way up the entry road free for non-members and you need to walk for a short distance to reach the Visitors Centre & Battlefield....More

As with so much of the history of the UK, there are many sides to the story at Culloden. The museum at the battlefield succeeds in telling both sides of the history book pages. You will come away with more understanding of the situation leading...More

No. The ticket you buy at the visitor center is for admission to that facility and the battlefield. We had a car so we drove. Ask your hotel. Have you tried Uber?
