Quite a long drive from anywhere. Book in advance, and be careful - the website is not simple. Fascinating technology, stunning views. You can drive up the Eastern side - boring! And the driver cannot enjoy. Take lost of warm clothing. Great experience at te...More

We decided to ride the cog railway to the top of Mt Washington instead of taking our personal vehicle, which you can do. Of course, the train was more costly, but it's an experience that we are glad to have enjoyed. The train moves at...More

Had the front seats in the first car of the Mount Washington Cog Railway. Would suggest you get in line early and that way you get a good seat. Some seats needed to have three people in them and that is quite crowded. Would suggest...More

The trip up to the summit on the cog is well worth the ticket price. The views (the leaves were in full color), the narrative, and the actual ride were enjoyable. The summit is amazing. It was very windy that day, and a bit difficult...More

We enjoyed our trip up and down the railroad. It was a little pricey at $75 a person but in the end well worth it. We took a 8 am steam locomotive on a beautiful day in October. The whole trip does take a couple...More

When I realized that this trip would be $70 I wasn't sure I wanted to spend the money. I had been on railroads going up mountains before. But this was different--I didn't realize what a "cog" railroad is. It is amazing how it works! Once...More

An excellent trip from every viewpoint. Lovely views on the way up with a comprehensive commentary from the guide who was very happy to answer questions. Once at the summit the views are excellent. The weather at the top is chilly to say the least...More

On an escorted coach holiday to New England and this was one of the highlights of our trip. The view is great and we were very lucky with the weather. It can be cloudy and windy - the previous day they had to suspend the...More

We went on a bus group trip to the New England area to enjoy the fall foliage and the Cog railroad to top of Mt. Washington was the highlight of our trip. At first thought you think $69.00 ride to top of mountain was expensive...More

It's not cheap but still excellent because it is so unusual. Whether you go up on the steam or diesel the trip up is wonderful. The slow pace (just a bit more than walking pace) allows you to take in the scenery and atmosphere. During...More

Just use your judgement. There was a young woman about 6/7 months pregnant on our train who enjoyed the excursion immensely. They took pictures of her baby "bump" to show rheir child later that he/she had indeed been to the... More
