Typically I visit the museum for the Christmas celebrations which I absolutely love...so much so that I want it to turn into a tradition. They have multiple houses which represent different time periods. If you love history and/or love Christmas do not miss their celebration.

Visited Strawberry Banke in the spring, just wandering around the grounds in the pretty weather was truly enchanting. Getting to go into the old houses as if you were a resident of this little village in colonial times with such a unique way to experience life during the early years of the country. Really well done museum property - great... More

We really enjoy the events at Strawbery Banke. The adults and kids have fun while learning. The Christmas Stroll is a family event we enjoy every year, walking through the snow, visiting homes and talking to the actors as though we went back in time. Even Santa is the St. Nick from another era. Our kids are 8, 10 and... More

Strawberry Banke is a lot of fun for everyone from young children to grandparents. The buildings are filled with history and excellent guides (dressed in period garb) that explain subtle details almost missed. Some buildings show how to identify period doors and windows, showing the evolution of them from the first settlers off the Mayflower. Very hot on a humid... More

With multiple places to listen to music (Tuesdays in the Terrace, Pitt Tavern) it makes more a nice evening and a way to get out of the crowds in downtown Portsmouth. The restaurant at the visitors center has drinks/food that you can enjoy while listening out on the terrace and the Pitt Tavern has drinks/appetizers available to sample while listening... More

Strawberry Banke provides hearth cooking demonstrations for groups of 8 several Saturdays in the off-season. You spend the first hour helping cook a fascinating early 18th century dinner over an open hearth with period correct menus and mostly-period appropriate utensils and kitchenware. Churn butter, make and cook main-meal pies, meats, fish and vegetables - and then after all is ready,... More

This place will take you back in time. Each house is restored and kept in a different time frame of life in Portsmouth NH from the revolution to the 60's. I live near by so I have been many times.

I have been to Strawberry Banke many times over the years and have always had a lovely time. There are buildings from various time periods which really makes the history of Portsmouth come alive. It is a very educational place as well as fun. I went here as a child and now my children have been several times. There are... More

If you haven't had a chance to visit puddle duck pond at strawberry bank you should deathly put it on your list of things to do this winter or next. It is one of the more beautiful places to ice skate other than good old pond skating that you'll find, they have made a number of improvements to the way... More
