We stopped in and were so glad we did. What an awesome place this is. One of the ladies took the time to tell us all about the business. She said there are 3 folks who build and decorate all the beautiful boxes they sell. She also took the time to explain the detail of each box as there are... More

The only Shaker Box manufactuering in the country. Fabulous gift shop, and antique barn. A trip down memory lane.

Located in a pastoral country setting, a bit out of the way (a good thing!), and worth the drive. The Mill is an historic setting, with a good story behind it. Worth researching before you go and filling in the blanks when you arrive. Truly a neat, historic New England experience. The Mill is now primarily a retail setting for... More

It's a remarkable experience to "time travel" (backward) at Frye's Measure Mill. The wood work is stunning in its simplicity and design, and it is a gift to wander through the rooms of the shop in the oldest water-driven mill in our country. The smooth, sanded surfaces of piggins, measures and Shaker boxes are a delight to the touch as... More

The only water-powered box mill east of the Mississippi, I think, with very interesting tours and a beautiful gift shop. Great place to bring out-of-town visitors!

Great place to see a piece of history. Nice to know some people embrace the pass enough, to keep the tradition alive. It only takes about an hour to wander around. Nice stop!

The many rooms of unique items will take you back in time. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. There are several styles of hand painted..each one gorgeously painted. Great place to visit for that unique experience.

I recently visited Frye's Measure Mill to pick up some antique and faux-antique presents for Christmas. The shop is quiet extensive and sits amid the original Mill that made and still makes authentic wooden containers, i.e. Measure Pans. You could easily spend a couple of hours in the shop as it's filled with all kinds of antiques. While the pewter... More

This was a better stop than I expected, and I have high standards. We visited in early December so didn't get to see the mill in operation. Will have to come back in the summer. Very picturesque New England area that Frye's exemplified! All the buildings were decorated for Christmas outside as well as in the shop. Shaker colonial, boxes were... More

The beautifully crafted Shaker reproductions are amazing -- but to see one Shaker box is to see them all! Probably not overprice; but not worth the cost for mose people. The mill is authentic, and quite interesting.
