Accessible walkway to the point. Scenic views everywhere, lots of birdlife. Great for photographers. If you want to take on the two hundred plus stairs there are spectacular views from the top of this majestic landmark. There is plenty of parking in the onsite car park, beware that the close the gates right on time so don't be late arriving...

Lately I've been visiting this landmark at least once a year. This past September my sister and I climbed to the top of the lighthouse. We'd done it once before a couple of years earlier. There's no fee to enter, either! The climb is a good workout, but there are several spots to rest on the way up or down.... More

Barnegat Lighthouse is an iconic NJ symbol. A very active friend's group staffs a small museum with not only the history of the lighthouse, but also illustrations of the seabirds that visit the area. It allows you to go out on a handicapped accessible walkway along Barnegat Inlet where you can actually see some of them in action. This site... More

We used to come to barnecat as teens to help a friend open their house. Free weekend at the shore. Came to the park and lighthouse to see the rough inlet. We have also been on the water at this rough inlet. Park, lighthouse, trails and museum are always a restful educational stop at this end of TT he island.

Been there several time. Nice place to walk, fish or just sit a relax watching the waves and the boats go out and come in. Family friendly

I have been on a vacation throughout the northeast for about two months and have been trying to see as many lighthouses in the northeast as I can. Barnegat lighthouse is beautiful, right on the point of an inlet. 217 steps, not for the faint of heart. Beautiful views at the top. Unfortunately there are metal mesh security devices on... More

Went on a cold, rainy, and windy day. Climbed to the top and experienced unbelievable wind. Was quite the experience. Didn't see much else due to the rain and the visitors center wasn't open.

This lighthouse is a great way to spend a few hours alone, with friends , or with your family. Spectacular and majestic views , and a nice sea breeze on a nice day. If you are a light house fan, this lighthouse is a must see!

The lighthouse is one of the few remaining reminders of sea-life long ago. The thunder of the ocean as you walk out toward the inlet reminds you of the beauty and danger of the sea. It is romantic (my daughter9 was proposed to there); and yet playful (6 grandkids love shell hunting and rock climbing or just watch the boats... More

There are 217 steps but 3 landings to rest, look out the window and read the info. But most notably, there are sturdy handrails on both sides, so you can divide the work between arms and legs. Going up is like one of those nordictrack machines. I only gave 3 dots because there's no light keepers house and you can't... More
