The Environmental Center at Lord Stirling park is one of several nature and education facilities that border on and are part of The Great Swamp federal wildlife park. The center main building has fun exhibits that change all the time and occasional special events. It is worth taking a look inside-- you can learn a lot about the wildlife by... More

Lord Stirling Park is named for William Alexander, Lord Stirling, a general in the Revolutionary War, whose estate included this area. It is situated on a portion of the former Glacial Lake Passaic, which covered the area about 15,000 years ago. As a result, the entire area of the park is nearly level. Sections of the trails can be very... More

This is a great place to visit -- there is always something good on display. We did a canoe safety class there and love the walks in the woods. In the winter, the paths are perfect for snow shoeing! We also like to kayak from there. So lucky to have the Center in our town!

This county-operated center has wonderful walking trails, a great staff and terrific programs. I've had the best times on the kayaking trips over the years.

Stopped by while in the area, nice displays on area wildlife inside & information about excavations around the manor house with findings. Outside trails to hike & gardens to admire. Nice place to go, even have a gift shop.

The trails are fairly level and we found the combination of colored blazes on the trees and trail maps at intersections made the park easy to navigate. A nice way to spend some time outdoors.

The trails were highly groomed but time has taken it's toll on the boardwalks, If groomed trails are you preference this site could be disappointing, for those who enjoy nature and don't mind how well nice the trails are groomed it's well worth a visit. If you don't like to hike, sit by the lake and watch the wildlife.

If your an outdoor person this is a must see. Boardwalks make it easy to hike around to see wildlife. The educational center has great classes to educate you further. Great for all ages

This is a natural environment that keeps on giving!! Over the years, it has continually been a nature refuge for generations of families. Hike the boardwalk trails and commune with nature.
