Had a wonderful day at Bay Head Beach on Monday, 24 August with water temperature of 74F. Many surfers and a yoga class were present when we arrived at about 9am. Porpoise schools are often spotted early. Clean sand and plenty of space. Visitors must purchase $8/person/day badges at the Office is located 532 Lake Ave in the Sandy Rail Building. Street parking only so get there early. No food or dogs. No bathrooms.

We discovered this section of the NJ shore after spending weekend, weekdays and days everywhere in between.
The beaches are full of families, couples and singles that grew up in this gem of a town. Love the beach here and spend countless hours watching the surfers and sun worshipers that love it too.

Beautiful beach, not as busy at this time of the year as the New Jersey beaches in southern portion of the state.
We had a very pleasant relaxing walk enjoying the ocean fresh iodine-rich air. The beach is steeper than most in NJ. The dunes are well organized and protected with plants. The color scheme of this particular beach was fascinating - toned done earth tone hues. Very relaxing.

This is not a family friendly beach. Passes for outsiders can only be purchased in one place(good luck finding it). There's no bathrooms. You're not allowed food or drinks and they watch you to make sure you didn't sneak anything in. This place is for local snobs only and the beach is nothing special. We stumbled upon it by accident thinking it was Point Pleasant which is right nearby.

Don’t waste your time or money my family have been too many beaches in New Jersey and this is the worst. The sand is rough it was packed and we never seen so many dead crabs on a beach. No bathroom or shower and good luck finding a parking spot and the place you buy the day pass. Our children were excited to find sea glass did not find one piece. The town isn’t even nice. We have definitely found beaches with better shells and lot more the most we found was small clam shells around all the dead crabs and clear sticky something.

It's a beautiful Jersey Shore beach, owned by the local homeowners and maintained by the Bay Head Improvement Association (B.H.I.A.), which sells beach access tags for $8/adult (not sure about kids). The beach was much less crowded than nearby Pleasant Point Beach, which has a boardwalk, fresh water beach showers and all the associated tourist attractions. There are three potential downsides to Point Pleasant Beach: there are no showers; the surf and undertow can be very rough; even small picnic coolers are not allowed. If you go swimming, be aware the shore and bottom slopes steeply into the ocean, which means the incoming swells break forcefully onto the beach and quickly recede with significant force that could easily undermine your footing and pull you back into the water. Even if you don't get wet, the beach sand is sticky and a fresh water shower would really be welcome, but nope... there are none. Otherwise, yep, the people there were friendly and helpful, the beach was occupied but not crowded, and the ocean ambiance is as good as any on the Jersey Shore.

This is an amazing beach for the dogs! Friendly dogs around the area, even though dogs must be leashed, most of the resident here still walking the dog w/o leash, make sure your dogs are okay with dogs running towards you! Mine does not mind at all!

Have passed by Bay Head for 22 years while heading to our beach house in Lavallette, but never really stopped. What a lovely, quaint, and peaceful beach! The particular area I was in, had no lifeguards, stairs that led down to beach access, and little shore. I believe the Hurricane is responsible for the depletion. The beach seemed very well kept, private, and reminded me of several in Southern California. I would absolutely recommend Bay Head Beach to anyone, I've been to nearly all the Shore Points in NJ, and Bay Head is unquestionably in my top 3. Also to note, there are some cute stores, a surf shop, and good food in the town. The Yacht Club and Lake in town are also beautiful and worth a look.

Bay Head beach looked beautiful in early June. It is a wonderful town but not ideal for day trippers as they do not have bathrooms near the beach. This makes it a little less crowded during the summer months so check out their B & Bs for a weekend or week getaway.

Have a beach home nearby. I am interested in purchasing seasonal beach passes for the bay head beaches. Also interested in seasonal parking passes if available.

Parking is free without staying at a hotel. Almost everywhere.

What address would I put in my gps to get there?
Are people permitted to come for a day trip.
Are there public restrooms.
Are there casual places close to the beach to eat lunch ?
Written 15 December 2015
There are not public restrooms. At this time of year, you can certainly get on the beach without any kind of badge, but it's obviously weather-dependent. We use the Grenville Hotel in Bay Head as the address since it's literally a block off the beach. There are places to eat in Point Pleasant, but not too much in Bay Head itself.

Can you buy a day badge at the beach entrance? If not where can you buy one? address and times please

Beach access tags are purchased from B.H.I.A. (Bay Head Improvement Association) for $8 per adult (I don't know about kid's tags). Their little office is located at 532 Lake Ave, Bay Head, NJ. Don't by any tags from scammers you might find operating from trailers or vehicles near the beach. B.H.I.A. is the only legitimate outlet for badges.
Written 24 July 2017
No, you need to pay $8 for a daily badge.
