- Nicole M1 contributionBeautiful Oasis for Family Day TripAfter researching many beaches to explore during our family NYC trip, I’m so glad we chose this one! The easy one hour drive took us to a quaint town with beautiful victorian homes. We arrived by 9:30 and quickly found free parking. The beach day pass was simple to purchase online with a QR code by the entrance. They had beach chairs and umbrellas for $15/each available (note: cash only). The bathroom facilities at the beach were clean, and the lifeguards appeared attentive. It was a perfect day trip to break up our week in NYC.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 11 August 2024
- bobkat11195 contributionsNice Quiet and Clean BeachVery quiet and clean beach. The bathrooms are clean, unlike one reviewer wrote. White soft sand, no rocks. The only thing I did not like was there was a big drop off entering the water. First your up to your knees. You take 2 more steps and up to your waste. Just be aware if you have kids. Great place to bike ride with cute Ginger Bread Victorian houses. Tent city is cute around the church. Their are only a few cafes on the main street, no lunch spots. We went 10 min down the road (by bike) to Asbury Park and ate at the Korean Fish Taco place (good price, a lot of food and good). Ocean Grove also has free parking, but get there early to get a good spot.Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 3 September 2024
- Renata S5 contributionsHidden Gem in the Jersey shore. Our slice of paradise!Ocean Grove is one of the best hidden gems of the Jersey shore! Family beach oriented. Perfect for my family. We have been going to OG for almost two decades and I can’t go anywhere else not to mess up with perfection. Great for kids at low tide because of massive sand bars. Very safe and clean not to mention how beautiful the boardwalk and houses are. It is our summer paradise get away. In July I went to Brazil and the beach there are pretty amazing. I often miss home on summer. Then I went to OG two weeks later and the water was perfect clear and I realized I don’t need Brazil. I had water to my chest and I could see my feet. OG is awesome!Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 4 September 2024

This dazzling, wonderful beach is a lovely way to spend a day. The beach is incredibly clean and spacious, and has lifeguards on duty until 5:30 PM. You need to buy a $12 beach pass, either through an app or from a city employee who's sitting at the beach entrance. The tides can be pretty strong, so keep an eye on the waves to make sure you're able to enter the water (which was a bit colder than I anticipated). You can rent an umbrella if you want, and there are outdoor showers available. We got here pretty early in the morning and it filled up by 10:00 AM, so get here early if you want a good spot. There are trash cans and recycling bins by the entrance. The houses bordering the boardwalk are gorgeous, Victorian-style buildings, so definitely take a look at those while you're in the area.

Compared to Bradley beach in terms of ease in walking along the shore, Bradley is best given that the sand is dense. However, the view of Victorian houses lining Ocean Avenue and all perpendicular avenues is just lovely🌹❣️
The houses have intricate woodwork adorning them.
I’m certain that it’s tough and costly to maintain given its proximity to salt water mist and breeze but majority of it look so uniquely attractive!

The beach, changing rooms and bathrooms were very clean and convenient to the water. Easy free parking. Beach passes are required but easy to purchase at the bath house/pavilion building. A bit pricey at $10 per pass for 12 and up, but worth it if you're spending the day.

This is a small beach town with a mix of locals and out of town visitors. You need to walk into Asbury Park to find a decent selection of eateries. No where near enough public restrooms or lockers! and very limited parking.

The beach is well maintained with chair and umbrella rentals available. Sundays the beach doesn’t open until Noon because of church services. If you buy your beach pass in Ocean Grove you can’t use it at another beach.

Beautiful - from morning till evening... music in nearby pavilion. Note that bikes only from 3-10 a.m. on the boardwalk, and Ocean Grove is a dry town - but Asbury Park, Bel Mar, Spring Lake, etc. are all very close (next towns over)...

PLUSSES: I walk a block & there it is. Beautiful clean beach & friendly badge checkers. Life guards are attentive & professional.
NEGATIVES: The bathrooms are horrendous, smelly, unattended & usually at least half the stalls don't work. Snack shed offerings are slim & expensive. Most expensive badges in the area. Parking along the boardwalk is free but impossible to find a spot. Frequently the Weaser truck can't operate because of no parking spot.

We love going to Ocean Grove beach. Very safe with limited rips and lifeguards. Generally good waves means everyone in the family can body, board or surf. Quite flat beach so lots of space at low tide for making sandcastles. Can get crowded in summer holidays especially at high tide. Friendly cafe with good food

Ocean Grove has the wonderful benefit of free street parking, plus reasonable beach passes. Ocean Grove isn't for everyone because it is a "dry-city" but for folks who want a relaxing, peaceful, and rejuvenating time at the Shore, Ocean Grove is a great place to go! Even in the off season, the board walk is well maintained and a great place to walk. The benches make great places to contemplate and look at the ocean.

Is the first time I did not like the dinner. My friend and I decided to share the tomahawk steak for two. We got it med rare. Now we never had it before but it was so tough it was a unbelievable. What a waste of money. I will go again just not will ever order that again for a hundred dollars no less. I do have to mention we had the sweetest
happiest and smiley waitress. She was wonderful. Not sure what her name was maybe Lauren. Again all other times I had a wonderful meal there

Can you walk the boardwalk on Sunday morning when beach is closed
Written 20 January 2024
What time do passes become required to be on the beach on Sunday morning?
Are we allowed on the beach for sunrise and then buy a day pass when they’re open for sale?
Do you offer free admission for veterans if my husband brings his discharge papers to show?
What address should we use for GPS to find free parking close to the beach?
Hopefully we can enjoy a day trip to Ocean Grove this Sunday!! The weather looks perfect ( so far)!
We have never been there, but heard Great things! 🌞
Thanks! 😊

Can I legally park and sleep in my van in legal free parking spots on the street or public parking lots in front of the beach ?

I'm trying to plan a beach trip for the day on March 20, 2021. My concern is finding public restrooms so early in the season and during Covid. Can anyone tell me if there will be any options for us in Ocean Grove - preferably close to the beach but somewhere else in town would also be an option. Thanks!
