I spoke with a Park Service staffer who had spent all 67 of his years living in and around Paterson. Never saw anything quite like this. Unusually heavy rainfall brought the river flow to unseasonably high levels creating a spray which fell as freezing rain...More

The Falls are grand and easy to walk around...rather too many fences that made it very difficult to get decent photographs. Otherwise a pleasant way to spend an afternoon enjoying the open air and wonderful falls .... being sunny there ware rainbows in the spray!

Hard to believe this is in New Jersey, but it is! Beautiful waterfalls and historic area. There was a bit of garbage on some of the sidewalks but the view was worth it.

Go---it's a very photogenic sight. You are on top of the falls & it is breathtaking. The museum across the street is a "must see" trip also.
