Insectropolis was well worth the drive for the visit. While the entire venue is not big by any means (the exhibits are built around a single loop), the displays, show, and super friendly staff make Insectropolis the perfect place to go on a rainy day (entirely indoors).

There are over two dozen terrariums with live insects which was pretty neat, but it was the expertly curated displays that stole the show in our opinion.

Upon careful reflection, the size of the venue is big relatively to the millions of insects they have on display; it is not a human world that the insects live in, but rather an insect world that we live in here at Insectropolis, and the venue does a great job at demonstrating that.

The displays are magnificent and does a great job at showing the immense variety and variations of insect species found in the world. I have no other words really to explain these displays but to just recommend that you all go see it for yourselves.

We arrived just as the show kicked off which was perfect. The show provided great information on insects as well as the presentation of live insects which guests can interact with on a limited basis (mainly petting with two fingers). In a way, the show almost served to lead us into the walking exhibits.

While Insectropolis is definitely great for kids, experiences will vary. We have 5 and 2 year old girls that breezed through the entire venue in less than half an hour and was bored. No fault or blame being placed, but it just so happened that their interest was not with the bugs during this time in their lives.

The collection was impressive. The tour guide is what made our experience excellent. Dominic spoke knowledgeably, answered questions patiently, and inspired all members of our tour to appreciate bugs more. I would recommend a visit and a tour to anyone who enjoys learning new things.

Don't let the small size fool ya! Incredible variety of exhibits and insects from all over the world. Most interesting and educational. Wheel chair friendly. Ample parking. The staff are all so friendly and willing to help, cheerfully answering any and all questions. We are eager to take relatives next time they're in town. Nice gift shop. DO check their web site, as the hours are limited.

We went here on a whim this past Saturday. It was fantastic! The museum displays were amazing especially the walking sticks and honey bees. We especially liked the show and tell and the staff -
Jess was great with the crowd and kids. The store also has lots of cool educational gifts for kids and adults. A great experience.

A nice way to spend an hour, maybe more. A mix of collections (large butterfly collection) and live insects. It's important to talk to the staff as they make the visit much more interesting and enjoyable and your youngsters (and you) will get to meet insects as up close and personal as you would like. Take a camera to record that moment for the family history. It's cleverly themed - the rock is where the story of the "bad insects" is told; the transportation center is a live bee hive (under glass). There are bug computer games and a gift shop with a bug theme. Check out how they ID the boys/girls restrooms.

I am always looking for the fun place to take my kids on the cold winter day so I came across this place. What a great collection of bugs and butterflies! I have never seen that many different kinds of bugs. Some of them are so pretty you would think they are painted. It's amazing that nature had created. This place is not too big - about an hour for the whole display. They have a live presentation during which you can pet/touch the bugs - scorpion, tarantula. Most suitable for the kids 4 and up.

We visited the museum with our girl scout troop of 4th graders and my 2nd grade son. They all loved it! The museum has a variety of themed rooms with living and dead insects on display. The collection of tarantulas was especially cool! The kids got to touch a trantula, millipede, hissing cockroach and an Emperor Scorpion. You can see the inside of 2 real bee hives and watch the bees at work through a thin layer of glass. I didn't know so many beetle varieties existed on this planet! And the displays of pinned butterflies are equisite. You will want to stop and read about these interesting creatures and enjoy some fantastic artwork (murals) that set the scene. The girls can't wait to go back again. 3 hours is probably an appropriate amount of time. There is a reasonably priced gift shop on site.

My wife and I took our 3 young daughters (ages 5 and 6) to Insectopolis for a rainy day activity. Although a "back building" on the lot where housed, this museum has live presentations with petting of insects, many diverse ecosystems' insects shown, and a huge amount of information that is fun and interesting. Our presenter was Mario, a patient and friendly entomologist who showed us (and we touched) a scorpion, a (hairy!) tarantula, a millipede, etc.
The place is much larger than the Philadelphia museum, and covers many more species and the ecosystems where they are found. We had a very enjoyable time, and the clean restrooms are a big plus for those with children!

Interactive with children and young teens and educational. It was fun for them to get to touch the different bugs. Good for preschool, school age and young teens with adults. Seeing the bees and ants was amazing. Church groups will enjoy this trip. I am a senior and loved it too.
