This is by far my favourite winery in Franschhoek. You need to make an appointment, but I've always just asked my accommodation to call in the morning and it's never been an issue. Joy does a very good, informative tasting. All the wines are good here. I love the old fashioned tasting room and the resident vineyard dogs helping. One... More

we have been buying wine from Joy at Stony Brook for many years and the wines are always very interesting and seem to cater for every taste, which is fairly unusual and certainly makes going there for a wine tasting worthwhile! I had no idea until this year that the Viognier grape can be blended with red varieties to make... More

We visited Stony Brook after having a bottle of their "The Max" wine at Ryan's Kitchen in Franschhoek. We actually e-mailed Stony Brook while we were finishing our dinner to see if we could visit their farm. Joy, the owner, wrote back the next morning and we set an appointment to visit on Sunday, when she would be giving a... More

This was our second visit to Stony Brook Vineyards and once again we loved it. Superb wines at great value for money. I would recommend that everyone who visits the valley should visit SBV and taste their wines in a friendly authentic family run vineyard setting. Joy is an especially warm and inviting person. Try all of them but the... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our stop on a wine cycle tour to Stony Bridge. Joy ( co owner and host ) was very hospitable and candid about their enterprise. This provided a glimpse into how tricky it can be being a wine maker in SA balancing wanting to produce good wines with the commercial reality of actually making it. The wines... More

We ignored our guidebook advice and turned up unannounced at Stony Brook and were met by the owner (Joy?) who immediately offered us a wine tasting. It was great to have a personalised service, to be able to ask questions and to sample the wine with someone for whom the winery is not only her livelihood but also her passion.... More

This winery was recommended by our Guest House (Maison Chablis) as a smaller, family run maker with interesting quality wines. Turned out to be a great recommendation. Nice venue, a little bit out of the way with a nice tasting area under some shady trees in a pleasant courtyard. The family dogs are in attendance wandering around creating a friendly... More

Hi Polychrest. Thanks so much for visiting our farm. It's always great to hear that people are being referred to us - word-of-mouth is, in our opinion, the best form of marketing! I couldn't agree more about the Camissa - definitely a wine that has huge potential for cellaring. More

Very nice experience. Call ahead to book an appointment. The owners personal touch very evident in all wines tasted. Great value for quality of wines. "The Max" was exquisite. If you appreciate a good wine you must visit!

We have visited this winery with our tour guide and it was a very nice experience, especially due to the two sweet dogs and the friendly owner giving it a very private and intimate feel. Perfectly organized with the shipping partner in Belgium!
