Discover the Vineyards of Franschhoek. The Franschhoek Wine Tram hop-on...

Discover the Vineyards of Franschhoek. The Franschhoek Wine Tram hop-on hop-off tour is one of the best ways to discover the true essence of the Franschhoek Valley - picturesque vineyards, breath-taking scenery, warm hospitality, world-class cuisine, fine wines and a 300-year history. Tour Experience: Passengers aboard the hop-on hop-off tour will experience a unique and leisurely introduction to the Franschhoek Valley as they journey through rolling vineyards in an open-side tram and open-air tram-bus stopping at some of South Africa's oldest and most distinguished wine estates. A combination of tram and tram-bus follows a loop of stops allowing guests to hop off at each stop and experience the activities on offer, such as wine tasting, a cellar tour, lunch or simply a stroll through the vineyards. When ready guests simply hop on to continue the tour. The tour takes guests into the heart of the Franschhoek Valley, with a guided commentary and unparalleled views of the valley and vineyards.

Absolutely brilliant fun. Even learned a thing or two. If just a couple of you are planning on taking a trip into the winelands, don't bother to book a bespoke wine tour unless you're after specialist knowledge. We enjoyed plenty of fantastic wine, got to travel round with other like minded people and had a relaxing and informative day. Do... More

We went on Valentines Day and had a brilliant time. It's best to book a couple of days before you go to be able to go at the time and route you prefer. We did the red route and visited 6 places, which is the maximum you can do. We did tastings at each one but did them between us... More

This is a very good way to do the tasting with minimum risk. I hope they can extend the track to give greater tram time. Well worth the cost.

We had a very enjoyable day visiting the wineries. The staff on the tram were very informative and helpful and the cost was reasonable and meant we could leave the car at the guest house. Only downside is that you might end up with a load of noisy drunks so select your stops wisely if you prefer a more relaxing... More

My husband and I were staying in Franschhoek and decided last minute to do the wine tram. We're so glad we did! It's a great way to see the winelands and go to different estates. We took the yellow line but they all looked great (it's the one that was leaving next). The tram is really well organized and it... More

We booked the green line several days before arriving in frranschoek. What a great experience! From the tram to the train to a Massey Ferguson tractor. The wines, cheese, chocolate, views and company were exceptional. An experience not to be missed!

We've been meaning to try this for a while and finally made it on this trip. Very easy to book online or at their kiosk in the middle of Franschhoek's main street, very helpful staff there and a well-produced brochure so if you are new to this area best to pick up the brochure in advance to help you plan... We went on the Green Line and had a lovely day out. If you want to visit and sample the wine at the maximum number of farms it would be a bit hectic but as the buses and trams are so highly organised the timetable works well. We decided to visit 3 farms for the one hour period between trams... More

Caught the blue tram at 11o'clock, and spent the day visiting 5 very different wineries. The whole thing ran like clockwork and it gave you enough time to taste 2/4 different wines at each stop. The waiting staff were extremely knowledgeable and spent time explaining the differences in the grapes used. Almost all served some sort of serving platter to... More

Great idea, takes longer than you think if you serious about tasting in lots of different estates. However most enjoyable day out.
