Wild Oats is a local farmers and food market open every Saturday morning...

Wild Oats is a local farmers and food market open every Saturday morning until 12 noon. We are located on the western outskirts of Sedgefield at the turnoff to Sedgefield Island. An award winning Garden Route landmark we are not to be confused with the Scarab Craft Market to the far east of Engen Petrol Station or the Mosaic Flea Market across the road from Wild Oats. As a food market, our open times are limited due to the short shelf-life of many of our LOCALLY PRODUCED products which include: Free-range chicken, beef, pork and lamb, free-range eggs, multiple cheese, dairy and baked products including fresh gouda, cheddar, blue-cheeses... milk, fresh fish, fruits, free-range & organic vegetables in season, many traditional and exotic bottled goods, organic olives, berries, rusks, koeksisters, biltong & wors, famous artisan breads, award-winning cheesecakes and goats cheeses... and on and on and on. Also a fabulous range of hot-off-the-grill breakfasts, coffees, teas and fresh-squeeze juices and smoothies. FOOD HEAVEN! Come face-to-face with our local food producers every Saturday morning, come rain or shine.

You need to at least spend 2 hours here, shopping for trinkets and tasting local produce. I had the beef shawarma which was excellent and good value for money. You can buy fresh veg, meat, flowers, breads and cheeses for the week.

The best market I've been to by far. Fabulous food, wonderful ambience and fresh produce and a wide array of local farmers and artisans selling their products. If I lived local I'd do all my food shopping there! Have breakfast, wander around, have a snack, wander some more. Come hungry!

Despite of the fact that the market is more visited by tourists than locals it still has a good variation of goods as well as food. Overall the quality of goods is high - not all this cheap and useless tourist stuff. The ambiente is what I particularely liked. The stands are nicely situated between these trees and that gives... I love this market, You can stroll around at your leisure, sample any number of home made delights, have any choices of breakfast from scrambled egg with Salmon, to fresh fruit salad, muesli and yoghurt, or a delightful fluffy omelette with so many variations of filling, the mind boggles. Coffee, freshly brewed, any way you like it, and orange juice... More

This market is superbly managed by Rose and Susan. Only the best local produce is sold here and each trader is thoroughly scrutinised before being accepted for trading. All sorts of great food stalls, fresh veggies, plants, bakeries, coffee and you can enjoy an al feesco breakfast under the surrounding trees. The choice is amazing! Plenty of free parking. This... Not being someone who typically visits markets, the Wild Oats market turned out to be surprisingly enjoyable! We spent the morning there looking through all the fresh and tasty looking food before buying a couple things for ourselves to eat. The place was buzzing with people sitting all over the place drinking coffee and eating all sorts of delicacies. I... More

Set at the western edge of Sedgefield village, this Saturday morning market has everything you could ask for in a community market: convivial atmosphere; fresh, locally grown organic fruit and veg; quality, locally produced crafts; yummy food and drinks; and cheery stall holders always ready to chat and smile. Fun for the whole family. Plenty of free parking.
