A beautiful stretch of beach and magnificent ocean ruined by litter. I was horrified to see the devastation caused by litter coming off the ocean and uncleaned stretch of beach.

We were really disappointed in Seminyak’s beach. It is covered in plastic and litter. You can’t walk 10m without seeing tons of plastic bags and straws! We tried to go for a paddle in the sea but quickly got out after plastic rubbish kept getting trapped around our legs. I quite frankly do not know how the turtles survive with this amount of plastic.. something needs to be done. We spent 5 minutes picking up litter and got nearly a wheelbarrow full!

The beach although naturally beautiful was covered in litter.. The rivers flowing into the beech didn't look good - could be sewage in there...

Disgusting beach. Full of litter, both on the beach and in the ocean, and filthy water. One of the worst beaches I’ve visited unfortunately.

Sad to say that Seminyak beach, filled with many plastic bottles/ wrappers at beach area and in water. There’s no upkeep and it’s in poor condition.
Kuta/ Legian beach became better than this secluded seminyak beach.
December is rainy month, wind is strong. All water activities were closed. There’s nothing there except some braiding, painting seller.
Location: near kudeta

Its a bit of a mixed bag here to be honest. Hotels on the beach are very good and offer great service. Good food, bars, pools and a view of the sundown. However, the beach itself is dirty, strewn with litter and dog poo and there are two small rivers that run across the sand into the sea and they smell disgusting. Little more than open sewers from the town. Very few people were on the beach in the four days we were there as everyone appeared to head further down to Legian and Kuta beach.

Exotic and amazing. Bali is truly so unique worth visiting all year round. Seminyak is always a bit windy and always so busy.

Hi. I was wondering if anyone knows if it's safe to travel to Bali regarding the corona virus? Me and my boyfriend are traveling April 3, and have already bought our tickets. Should we be concerned about the virus spreading there, and does anyone know what happens if flights get cancelled?

There are no corona virus cases in Bali or Indonesia. I just got back and everything was fine. Yes, there are coughing Chinese people on planes and a few were denied entry into Bali a week ago. I had one next to me on the flight from LAX to SYD. I would suggest flying through Sydney instead of Hong Kong or Taiwan to minimize the risk. My main concern would be the stop over, not Bali.
Also realize that travel insurance will not help you. I bought travel insurance through Allianz for the Tokyo Olympics, and they just told me that there is no coverage if it is related to the corona virus. They have exclusion in most policies for epidemics. I would have never bought the worthless Allianz insurance if I would have known that.
Definitely go, but take plenty of hand sanitizer.

To avoid the stinky canal during sunset I went to Botanica but got sick from the alcohol. It appears it only happened there as i tried La lucciola and Mano but no issues. Is this an isolated event?

I think it was an isolated case. The beach bars at Seminyak are all pretty careful to maintain there quality because of the competition along the beach.

Hello Timothy, i have never been early september but from the middle off oktober. It is sadly to say that there is al to off garbage on the beach in the evening and morning but that depends off the weather and the wind, but do not worry about the garbage. Early in the morning the people off Balido their utmost to ensure that all the dirt is gone and the tourists can enjoy from a beautiful beach and the sea.

Negotiate, negotiate, negotiate!
Pretty much a rule of thumb is only pay 1/3 of what is first asked. Certainly NEVER any more than that at markets. If you have a price in mind, and they are asking CONSIDERABLY more, drop your opening offer to 20% of what they're asking. Bartering/bargaining is fun - not for some, though - and can get you an absolute bargain. Never feel pressurised...not sure? Walk on.
