Wow-got to take the fall tour on a very nice day. They are very accommodating in allowing rail fans to walk through the rail yards. You can take pictures of everything. Only thing they say is "say out of the way of moving railcars". The train trip is great and includes a large noon meal. We took the full trip... More

Great scenic 64 miles train ride around the Rocky Mountain from Chama to Antonito. We rode on the open air Gondola car during the whole trip to catch the best view. The view is spectaclar. There is also a rest stop for lunch which is included in the price where you have a choice of meatloaf, turkey dinner, soup, salad bar... More

Too much could be written about this beautiful fall day. The docent on the flatbed train sticks out in my mind as being the most informative person on the train. Our guide/hostess on the first portion of the train was also informative and had a great sense of humor and knowledge. The second hostess was young and seemed more in... More

After many years I finally was able to schedule my ride on this train. This narrow gauge railroad operates through the Rocky Mountains by twisting and winding its way through mountain passes by clinging to side side of the mountain, cutting through tunnels and some of the most incredible scenery I have ever seen. The locomotives were built in the... More

We took the train to Osier for lunch. The scenery had the trees that had turned yellow, rock formations, and rivers. Docents gave a history of the railroad and other landmarks along the way.

The owner of the hotel where we stayed said, "if you do not ride the railroad while you are here, you will wish you did..." So, the day before we met our outfitter, my father and I rode the railroad. He was one hundred percent correct! We loved it!

This was an awesome day for us! We really enjoyed the train trip on the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad and scenic it was! We had so many views of golden aspens along the way. We may have missed some of the most beautiful parts of the aspens as many of them had already lost their leaves. But, we still... More

Hadn't ridden the railroad in a number of years. Comfortable and relaxing trip with fantastic colors during the fall leaf season. Great meal at the halfway point of the trip. Knowledgable and humorous train personnel. Trip definitely worth the cost.

To our knowledge, the Cumbres & Toltec is the longest narrow gage train trip in the States. The train leaves Chama at 10 am (get there early) and arrives in Antonito around 5, with a bus trip back to Chama. Lunch is included in the ticket price, and throughout the trip, there is a concession car with snacks and alcoholic/nonalcoholic... More
