This is such a beautiful place, not only because it is such an iconic church. If visitors will look past the post-card worthy building for a moment, the peace of the place can overwhelm. Today was especially nice. . . .few people, no children, and...More

Hundreds of thousands of people come to this small chapel each year. The dirt in the tiny attached room is believed to bring healing. The thought of people trekking many, many miles through open desert - even barefoot - to come here for healing, or...More

Great pilgrimage for my 12 year old and I to attend. It was beautiful and peaceful. We were able to attend Mass with an elderly priest who still enjoyed saying the mass. It's worth the truck out of town. It was pretty walking around the...More

A must see place! So much about this place is both holy, and personally moving. If you are anywhere near here, make this a first stop, and don't miss it!

We found ourselves drawn to this place and went twice. We truly felt there is a very special energy at the Santuario De Chimayo. I feel for some of the other reviewers who lamented the icy fingers of commercialism are gripping this beautiful place, however,...More

It is never too busy to be there except during Holy Week when pilgrims walk to the sanctuario from many miles away. At least that has been my experience.

Not sure as i'm not a local. Suggest you call Sacred Heart or Santuario and ask about local transportation for Good Friday service.
