We camped here a couple of years ago in an electric site. We now have a generator and came back to try a dry camping site among the rocks. It was our first experience boondocking and it was awesome! The campsites among the rocks are so beautiful and secluded. The night skies are so dark so you can see so... More

We absolutely loved camping in the City of Rocks! We had visited 30 years ago, and while it was a state park then, it was not developed like it is today. There are vault toilets scattered throughout the camping area, and drinking water is available. The new visitor center has a great interpretive display and there are even flush toilets... More

Very cool place to Camp. We watched some beautiful sunsets and moonrise, the kids had fun climbing on rocks around camp. There was a vault toilet close to our site, and the center had adequate shower and bathroom. Very affordable, we booked in advance and was able to drive to rockhound state park and gila cliff dwelling national monument. AT&T... More

City of Rocks...ROCKS! Very interesting geological formations that lend themselves to easy hiking and a unique camping experience if you are lucky enough to get a spot. Would have loved to be there for sunset and stargazing but we couldn't get a spot. Not many spaces that can be reserved ahead. A fair amount that are first come first served.... More

If you are in the area this is a must see. You can get out and walk around, or drive around. Don't miss the visitors center where these unique formations are explained. Great camping sites too and perfect place for stargazing! I live about 45 minutes from here and always bring visitors.

My father-in-law took my husband and I out here and I had a blast. Climbing the rocks and being able to see how they might have been formed, either due to weather or something unrelated was surreal. I was taken back by the fact they charge people to enter the park but I would happily go back with my own... More

We drove in as the sun was setting- took a quick drive around- enough to know that we had to come back and explore. At the end of our 10 day road trip we purposely back tracked to the park to spend an hour exploring and climbing between the rocks. Definitely worth the trip from Deming . It is like... More

We pulled into City of Rocks without a reservation and were dismayed to find that there were no electric sites available, which as it turned out, was to our advantage. The electric sites were pretty much like a small parking lot, BUT OH THE OTHERS. Each nonelectric site had privacy and was surrounded by the parks' huge rocks--gorgeous. Hiking trails... More

Most people come here and probably just walk among the huge boulders that define the park. However, I chose to hike the peripheral trails and climb to the top of Table Mountain in addition to going through the boulders. The desert environment along the trails was much different than what I experienced in Sabina in AZ – of course this... More
