We drove through and stopped to see the sites. If we had more time, we would have hiked through all the area. We did not camp there, but there is some nice camp sites there.

This is a unique geological formation unlike anything in the area. A visitor center explains how it was formed. You hike the area or drive a perimeter loop around. They host a star party in September. There is virtually no light pollution out there.

We only briefly visited the state park, not staying over night. They have the camp sights nestled in amongst the different rock formations. Some cool formations. Worth a visit if you are in the area.

We love to explore and this is a great place to use your imagination. We saw a roadrunner, quail with babies. It is very clean and highly recommend you to visit.

Hidden away in a semi-flat, rolling hilled high desert, City of Rocks reveals itself only after cresting a small rise less than a mile from the park entrance. A fascinating jumble of Volcanic Tuff Rocks dropped on a small rise in a flat landscape bordered...More

A couple of hours would be plenty. That being said, we felt as though we would like to camp there at a future date as it is so unique.
