This is the Museum in Fort Sumner not the Museum at the Kids Gravesite.

Would you come to New Mexico solely for this museum? I think the answer must be no. However, if you're near Fort Sumner this is a cool stop and for $5 there is a lot to... read more

We stopped over in Roswell, and we're disappointed by the UFO museum. The day prior, we met someone who recommended this museum. We're glad he did! This museum was very informative and had a lot of other old items, including gold cars. It was worth the trip from Roswell, even though it was a long, lonely trip.

Would you come to New Mexico solely for this museum? I think the answer must be no. However, if you're near Fort Sumner this is a cool stop and for $5 there is a lot to check out. The gift shop is really good as well. Really, it's the product of an obsessed guy that collected all this Billy the... More

This has to be the ultimate collection of information about Billy the Kid. Don't miss the introductory film before you go through this entertaining and winding museum. We learned so much here it was incredible. Very nice staff. A must see if you are in the area, and very inexpensive. NICE gift shop too.

The museum is CLOSED and the cemetery is open. It is interesting as the "gang" is buried here. But don't spend time here if you are on any schedule. Go instead to the museum to the south where wealth of knowledge is waiting.

Lots of history besides Billy the Kid. Old cars, household items from the past and old west stories.

Museum. Gift shop. All sorts of items from time when Fort Sumner was established, generally just old collectibles, and lots of articles about Billy the Kid.

There are old wagons, old cars, old Indian arrow heads, Billy the Kid Memorabilia, nice film on Billy's history, old glass, just about anything you can imagine. Take your time to see and learn about the past with this outstanding collection.... More

Had to stop and take some tourist pictures. We were actually on a geocaching road trip that brought us to this spot. Lots of "stuff "to look at. Some relating to Billy the Kid not a whole lot. The museum went on and on with old time cook stoves to horse saddes, you name it it was there. Stop it's a... More

Although this museum only has a little bit about Billy the Kid it is packed with all kinds of other exhibits. I found it interesting and then afterwards drove to the grave site which is down the road a ways. If your in the area this is worth the stop.
