A beautiful place to visit but you had better be in top physical condition to walk very far on the trails. Some areas are wheelchair accessible. Picnic tables & restrooms near the entrance. Not much in the way of restaurants or motels anyway near. I...More

We enjoyed the drive from Silver City to the Catwalk. On the way we stopped at the Aldo Leopold Vista pull out.The viewpoint is lovely and the kiosk gives information on Mr Leopold's contributions in protecting public lands. His words are profound! It's unfortunate that...More

Super cool place! Walkways that allow you to look down over the river, as well as a lovely trail on either side - one side is moderate other side easy - that's well worth taking. Picnic area is nice too. Road often gets washed out...More

We stopped by the catwalk trail on our way from Deming NM to the Grand Canyon and were really glad we did! It is an amazing engineering feat with (very sturdy!) metal catwalks up through a canyon with plenty of running water to enjoy. It...More

This 1.1 mile trail thru the White Water Canyon is recovering from a large wildfire and then the resulting flood that destroyed the historic elevated trail that hung from the cliff side where an old mill in the late 1890's first added a structure to...More

On a sunny, March afternoon our two couples were alone in the parking lot and on the Catwalk. The Catwalk is just that, a suspended walkway meandering along a portion of the Gila River. Spectacular views and a sense of floating above the water all...More

Wish I had called ranger station! The road was flooded and after a 4 hour drive I had to turn back! : (

The part of the trail that was open was nice. I wish that the rest of the trail had been fixed so that I could have seen where my husband used to hike as a child.

The Catwalk provides an exceptional view of an amazing canyon. During winter and spring you might want to stop by or call the Glenwood Ranger station to see if the road is passable. Sometimes the river floods and cannot be forded.

There are several walks along the Trail. Benches are located at intervals for those needing a rest. If you stay on the finished portions walking with a cane should be reasonable assuming that the individual has a... More

We stayed in a chain hotel in Deming NM, which is about an hour driving from the attraction. We had a lot of fun going to Rock Hound State Park looking for geodes while in Deming. Silver City is a bigger city, and also has... More

Nothing that I saw a couple of days ago would indicate it is closed on Sunday. You could call the ranger station to confirm.
