We travelled through the Jemez Mountains and awe struck by the amazing mountain view. The red canyons, junipers, piñon trees and cool breeze were worth the winding road. Don't miss this drive!

If you are coming down Hwy 4 from Valles Caldera, keep coming down South, The colors are amazing. Be sure and bring the camera.

Not tall pointy mountains, but startling strokes of color in a different display around every turn. Early morning or late afternoon are the best viewing times.

You don't have to be a geologist to be in awe of the Jemez Mountains. Whether it's the vivid red soil or varied patterns of the land, do yourself a favor and take a walk this way.

The strata was beautiful everywhere you looked. We drove all the way and took wonderful pictures. There are pull-overs to take pictures and just look at the views.

The views and colors are just amazing, especially when you have the sun reflecting off the peaks. We stopped more times than expected to just get the pictures of the various shades of colors that are in these mountains. Definitely a must see.

Alas, I can provide you no information related to El Cid or your question. I wish you a wonderful visit to the Jemez -- we are having a grand El Niño year! Regards. Vito
