This is a working military base so it's important to respect the security process to get to the museum. We parked at the side lot before the gate and walked over to the gate where they took our IDs and waited for clearance. If you want to drive your vehicle to the museum, they require up to date proof of... More

While it appears that many many hours have been put into collecting, presenting, and preserving the collections relating to the area, the people, the military and the missile site the presentation is a little worn and in need of updating. Outside missile collection was a graveyard of old missiles. I'm obviously don't have much interest in military history. May appeal... More

Exit 6 on I-25 will drop you on US 70 going to Alomogordo. Missile Range is about 20 miles away. Park your car just outside the check point and walk to security with your IDs. It takes time, but with the pass, you walk across to WSMR Museum. On Dec 26, when we reached, the Museum was closed, but several... More

Small quiet museum, with displays inside and out. We parked outside, showed our licenses and had no trouble getting into this military facility. We saw no one in the museum ( visitors or staff) and walked around the outside missile display. Spent about an hour total. It was a fine stop on the way to the National monument, but personally... A great way to spend a day at a unique National Monument . Enjoy the sledding on the silica dunes. Learn a little about geography too!

Took a long time to get approval to walk in as they wouldn't let you drive in if you aren't military. Loved all the displays and info on the missiles.

On our way back to Las Cruces from the White Sands National Monument, we saw the sign on Hwy 70 for the Museum at White Sands Missile Site. We took the exit and drove into the base. There is a reception building on the right near the gate, but it was closed. We drove up to the gate and a... More

When my husband said let's drive to go see the missile range (he's a vet) I rolled my eyes into the back of my head and was figuring out how to avoid it. We stopped at a little shop on the way where the woman convinced us we had to go... I was super mad at the time until we... More

The museum contains very interesting historical information and photographs of the history of White Sands Missile Range. Security is very tight at this U.S. Army installation, and admittance requires your positive indentification.
