Went to the cultural center adjacent to the museum to view a traveling display of Jack London's photography. Ended up enjoying all the displays in both places. Not large, but they made excellent use of the space and everyone was most helpful. Learned a lot in a short period of time and it all was free.

I loved nature and science museums so decided to stop in after the farmers market. It's free, so there is that going for them. It did have some interesting exhibits, but the place is very small with not too much in it. Plus we had the added bonus of visiting on school field trip day. Very crowded, with lots of... More

I love this place. Learned a lot when and how it started. They have live critters, snakes, and they're educational. You can get in free. They have some videos you can watch. It is worth to come and visit this place. I will be back here and bring friends.

Kudos to the city of las cruces for having such an interesting museum! It was free and would have been worth paying for. Live animals on display showing off NMs wildlife as well as beautifully done taxidermy animals! The wolf and mountain lion we my favorite. Very knowledgeable staff were very happy to tell you about animals and answer any... More

I love the Smithsonian and Field museums, but they can be overwhelming. This one is just whelming. Quite compact and limited in scope, it has an outstanding collection and presentation of pre-dinosaur reptile, amphibian and insect tracks. The primary display shows where dozens of creatures scurried through drying mud, all within a few hours, including top predator Demetrodon. Other exhibits... More

I would not consider small aquarium tanks of animals, 2 fossil displays, and a rotating sun to ever remotely be qualified to be a "museum". What a disappointment! That is what we saw here. We felt so terribly sad for the very large snapping turtle in the aquarium tank that was only twice as wide as he was. It was... More

The museum has some excellent historical displays. History of the indigenous people, some early transportation displays. Today they had a wonderful display of the artist Shoofly. Loads of great cowboys at work and play. There are loads of animals that children and adults would be able to see outside. The gift shop has some wonderful New Mexicor products for sale.... More
