I always reserve a front row seat for the final performance of each production at the Black Box, whether Ceil Herman directs or a guest director takes the helm. Never been dissatisfied. Actors always know and perfectly project their lines. Each actor is well prepared...More

We have watched many plays at "The Black Box" Theatre over the last 20+ years. The people are nice and the atmosphere is simple, yet accommodating. Some plays are excellent, others ok but we always enjoy it!

"Nora" -- an Ingmar Bergman adaptation of Ibsen's "Doll house" (currently running) is well acted and well directed. You can see the emotion in the actors' faces. This is a serious play, not light fare. The space is intimate. There is seating on three sides,...More

I have season tickets and have enjoyed every play I've seen there. It's a small theatre so every seat is good. The current play is hilarious - Greater Tuna.

We just performed at the Black Box Theatre. Ceil and Peter Herman were delightful to work with, and we loved the theater. A wonderful, intimate space, and the Hermans are completely professional and exciting in their approach to theater. Wish we lived in New Mexico...More

Intimate theater setting and plays which variously make you laugh or cry or just challenge your thinking. Peter and Ceil are wonderful supporters of the arts in the city.

The theater may be old and small but we have never been disappointed in the show.. The actors have such talent. Great value too!

What a wonderful theatre and group of actors. You will see the not so mainstream type shows here and you will not be disappointed.

This one-woman play, starring Janet Mazdra, is well worth seeing. Janet does an excellent job, portraying the various ups and downs of this middle-aged woman, Shirley Valentine. The play is funny and moving at the same time.
