The Hubbard Museum lets you know up front that it is all about horses in the Southwest. A parade of nine larger-than-life horse statues, seemingly in full motion, flows across the front entrance, making a majestic introduction to an eclectic collection of Western memorabilia. The collections are the legacy of two wealthy collecting families, organized as well as possible to... More

We were doing a day trip and stopped to see this museum. (70 miles) Everything we read about it said open 7 days a week. We did love the huge horses in the front park! At least there are other things to see in this town.

If you are a horse person, you will enjoy this museum with its many carriages, saddles and equipment. Otherwise save the $7 admission and see the amazing horse statues on the grounds for free and take some photos.

The outdoor horses statues or bronzes are beautiful. Be sure not to miss them. The museum itself is kind of a mismash of some western themes. The saddle and horse equipment displays are excellent on the top level. There are also several original Remington and Russell paintings-drawings. The lower level has interesting wagons including a Canastoga. It would be better... More

While vacationing in Ruidoso with friends, they wanted to visit this museum. I have driven by this museum probably 100 times and never thought about seeing it. WOW!!, what an incredible collection of western history. Very well presented and displayed. If you have the slightest interest in history, especially the American West, this is your kind of museum!!!

Three areas were of particular interest. The story of Anne C. Stradling and her love for horses, which let to a great collection horse-related items was fascinating. The collection of wagons and carriages was interesting, especially for young children who might never have seen something like a Chuck Wagon or a Conestoga Wagon before. The 101 Ranch story provided an... More

We had gone here before when it was the Museum of the Horse and were really looking forward to going back. However, it is now the Museum of the American West but really doesn't have much in it. If you like carriages it is great but it really doesn't tell much of the story of the west. It is more... More
