I only found out I was near the VLA because of a brochure I picked up. Went to see it because of it's appearance in the movie CONTACT. Hard to truly express the emotion of being there. I'm not a particular space buff, but seeing...More

Great video in the visitors center. Made me want to go home to watch Jodie Foster in "Contact." Interesting walking tour with great views of the 27 antennae which were in the more concise formation when we visited. We saw them uniformly swing into new...More

Stopped by here as I was driving to Arizona. It is in the middle of nowhere, but was a nice self guided tour.

The VLA is magnificent/majestic. The sheer size is overwhelming ... not even to mention the science research that is undertaken there. The visitor center has a self-guided walking tour with information about the site. In the visitor center is a very small gift shop with...More

The Very Large Array (VLA) is truly an educational experience with the huge radio-telescopes spread out in a "Y" configuration on tracks across the desert landscape. The "barn" is also interesting as it is the repair facility for the large white dishes that break a...More

My dog loved it! I was there closer to the time the gift shop closed, but I think dogs are allowed outside the whole time.
