There are so many towns on Route 66 that have spectacular mural displays. Tucumcari is no exception. They are beautifully placed and like the other towns we visited, tell a story of the history and highlights of the city. The artistry is wonderful and so...More

These murals are very well done and really take you back in time--I truly enjoyed the nostalgia. My three brothers and I grew up in the 1950s and early 1960s and our family drove from New York to Florida every year. Viewing these murals was...More

The owner is great. She is so helpful. I left my charge card at a gift shop that had closed. She called around, found out the owners name and phone number and he drove back in to town to bring it to me. He owns...More

This spot is worth a stop off when passing thru and checking out. Going to Tucumcari and driving Old Route 66 is like going back to 1950. Fun!!!

Just drive through and make sure you keep your eyes open. Some are showing age but that just gives them a bit more character. We photographed them all.

Basically attached to the Blue Swallow Motel, so while visiting one, you get the other as a bonus! A 2 for 1 or a virtual BOGO if you stay at the motel!

Loved the murals along historic route 66 in Tucumcari. Our cashier in Del's Restaurant was featured in one of the murals.

If you are travelling route 66 then Tucumcari is worth a visit. It's a logical stopover and I recommend the Roadrunner Lodge if you are staying overnight. The murals are fascinating and very well done. A way to reinvigorate a town which suffered a major...More

It only takes 1/2 hour to drive around town and look at all of the murals painted on the sides of the buildings. Looks like some talented folks in this area that tell the story of Route 66 during the hay days in Tucumcari.

I know you can see all the photos that other people have taken of the murals but I say it is worth seeing them in the context of the town. The local buildings are interesting.

Good evening, my question is...how does kerrtravelplans become a level 5 contributer and be allowed to call the murals of Tucumcari NM graffiti? Can people use Trip Advisor to make such claims and not be made accountable for accuracy? Just disclaiming at the end of an evaluation doesn't always negate responsibility. I would ask that you would look at the photos others have posted and please tell me which one would be classified as graffiti in any normal person's opinion.

I also lived in Tucumcari and so did my mother's family. Many are buried in Tucumcari Memorial Park. I loved the city and think the murals are not even close to what would be termed graffiti.
