Small units. Well equiped. Bathroom is a walk away, although well lit. Kitchen supplies can be improved

I was expecting more but could blame the drought. Reseve was very dry during our visit. Water approx 1km from bird hide. Unless you went on organised walks or drives you could not get close to water. Ablutions clean but showing their age. Wild buck walk right into campsite. Best behaved monkeys in S.A. Shop only has cooldrink (limited) and... More

It has been a long time since I was last in Maputaland - but nothing prepared me for the horrendous drought conditions in this north-easternmost corner of the country. Everywhere stark white skeletons of trees with only dark red ground beneath. Not the best time to visit what I am sure would be a wetland wonder during a rainy season.... More

If you are happy for a rustic campsite with a quiet unfenced atmosphere go to Ndumo. It is vey dusty with dry red earth - so if an allergy sufferer do take allergy tablets/asthma sprays. The positive is the peace - back to nature and the beautiful birds - take the guide to get the most out of the experience.... More

I camped at Ndumo for 3 nights in April 2016, the last time I was in Ndumo was 12 years ago, since my last visit it seems as if the camp and Reserve has gone downhill, the reception, kitchen and ablution facilities are all in need of renovation and the entire place is looking really tired, some of the bird hides... A lovely place to visit if you are a keen birder. Drives are abit limited if you choose the self-drive option but still very nice

It was with some trepidation that we aproached Ndumo via the Jozini Dam. Although a beautiful vista, the drive was hard; steep hills, numerous bends, and random suspension bending speed humps. We had to run the gauntlet of the chaotic towns of Jozini and Ndumo, suffering from sheer weight of numbers and pressure of a local population explosion. Using a... More

This Game Reserve generated mixed reactions - the bush is thick, the animals very shy, (we saw only 4 species excluding Crocs and Hippos), the birds were elusive and perpetually behind a branch or another tree. The best areas require one to walk there with a booked guide so if your walking ability is restricted, there is only one hide... More

quiet, fabulous trees, birds and water birds, Great hides. Really well looked after, the hides were in great shape. The camp is lovely with a little pool and we would really have liked to stay here but were told it was full. It was no where near full. The reception at camp was bare of books, drinks, etc but lovely... More

We saw 108 birds in one day including Alan's Gallinule and Little Bittern which were lifers for us. The accommodation is very comfortable. The highlight was a spectacular drive with a guide to the pan. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly - I will definitely be returning soon.
