The Adirondack Museum is now open for its 59th season. The museum is open daily, including holidays, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., through Monday, October 10, 2016. Begin your Adirondack experience with a visit to the Adirondack Museum. A regional museum of history and art, the Adirondack Museum's 24 buildings and exhibitions are situated on 121 acres, offering spectacular mountain and lake views. The museum's extensive collections give visitors the opportunity to experience how people have lived, worked, traveled and played in the Adirondacks since the 1800s. Exhibit themes include: boats and boating, land transportation, outdoor recreation, the environment, logging, rustic traditions, fine arts, and tourism. Interactive discovery centers and hands-on activities abound throughout the museum, making the museum a fun place for families with children to play and learn. Watch the Boat Builder in Residence construct a traditional Adirondack guideboat, take part in a workshop, feed the trout, or participate in a school field trip. Services at the Adirondack Museum include the Lake View Cafe, open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, overlooking pristine Blue Mountain Lake. Picnic areas are scattered throughout the grounds. Be sure to visit the Museum Store in the Visitor Center for a variety of Adirondack related gifts. Allow 2 - 3 hours for a relaxing visit.

Beautiful location in the Adirondacks with a lot of history involving the Adirondacks. I haven't been here since I was a tween or earlier and I am now much older than that. Unfortunately I don't remember much from my first visit other than the full sized sailboat that was kept in a "pond" covered by a Plexiglas dome. The sailboat... More

We took our time and you'll get more out of it if you do. Many buildings to go thru, yes like the Smithsonian. We had very knowledgeable staff/guide people in the boathouse area, the kids area, the old school house and the Rustic Furniture Area. There are plenty of displays to read, and take your time and read them. There... More

Our bus trip included the museum as one of our stops/perks. Our group of 34 arrived as the museum opened at ten on a weekday. There were other visitors that day, even though it was a weekday which adds to one's own experience as you interact with others and how they respond to the information and exhibits. There is much... Well my wife wanted to make a day trip into the Adirondack Mountains for the fall foliage. We decided to spend the afternoon at the Adirondack museum. It was a very pleasant surprise. It was very well kept, had very interesting exhibits and had the most amazing view of Blue Mountain lake from its deck. My favorite exhibit was of... More

We visited with our granddaughter on a rainy summer day and had a wonderful time. The volunteers in the one-room school and the pioneer days section were wonderfully patient. A very fun location and a good time was had by all.

We took a road trip to high peaks of Adirondacks and foliage was gorgeous along Rt 28N to Blue Lake. Stopped at Adirondack Museum on Fall Fiber Festival Day. Tons of people there (get there no later than 11 for best parking), but admission to Museum gave us vendors, live music, and activities for nothing extra. Interesting exhibits and unique... More
