Moved to Cooperstown area a little over 2 years ago and this is one of the very special scenic places I took my family from out of state. We were here in May taking a little break from my 2nd move in 6 months and the pictures of our visit here are some of my favorites. Trees were budding and... More

There are a few moderate hiking trails to choose from in Glimmerglass State Park. We chose the Sleeping Lion Trail, which is about 2.4 miles. The trail was well marked, and while there was an uphill section in the beginning, the rest was a beautiful walk in the woods.

We luckily got a campsite for one night without having a reservation, but because this is a popular campground, advance reservations are highly recommended. Our tent campsite was in the overflow Beaver Pond area which doesn't have restroom/shower facilities; these are located in the main camping area. The facilities at the nearby beach area were unlocked early in the morning,... More

Looks like a great summer experience. We were there and found great fall hiking trails. The lake looks like a fun place to be in the summer.

We had an event at the Beach Parking lot and at Hyde Hall. The management was wonderful to work with and the event went off flawlessly. The rest of the park seems top be well run and lovely. Hyde Hall is really very interesting and well presented. The grounds are beautiful you get a good feeling for the history of... More

On the day we visited for a family picnic, there were a lot of people there, but it never felt crowded. Lots of places to relax under a shade tree.

We have a tent but the rustic sites only had a porta john so we opted for the main area as there was electricity plus bathrooms nearby. Some of the sites are pretty close together but ours (#14) felt spacious. The bathroom block was older and had only 2 showers for women which didnt feel like enough. The beach area... More

This sits at the top of Otsego Lake, which is a glacier formed lake with beautiful blue water, almost like the Caribbean waters. The park is very clean, with lots of picnic tables, a boat ramp, pavilions and camp grounds, and a swimming area. The glimmer glass comes into play when the sun reflects off the calm lake. Everything was... More

There are not many beaches around this otherwise beautiful lake, so we brought our 4 and 1 year olds here for an afternoon. They enjoyed the playground and the beach. We would like to have had time for a hike, but it rained early in the day and we got here late and the children were having too much fun.
