Hiking to the falls and back is a good easy hike for beginning hikers and kids 7 and above. It was a chilly, windy day but we were dressed for it. Bring water to hydrate and a snack to eat by the falls before you head back.

Hike is impressive. Be sure you bring water. Rocky path so wear hiking shoes. Saw a lot of people with sneakers it's a good way go twist an ankle. View are vast and impressive. The falls were a trickle in summer but must be great in spring.

Other reviews do not lie. The hike is rough not due to the elevation or steepness, but rather die to the stones in the path. Good shoes would be a plus. I used sneakers, they came out as if they were 2 years older. The hike is worth it, even though the falls were dry that day. Good time to... More

VerKeerderkill Falls are located in a remote part of the Gunks, thus remaining a unique wild wonder. The view of the falls is just breathtaking.

The road to the ice caves was good. The ice caves were great worth going to see. You must be a little adventurous. If you are also going to hike to the falls go to the ice caves first. The trail to the falls is long and hard very rocky. You can do it on sneakers but good hiking boots... More

This hike was awesome, but it was extremely challenging - walked two miles on rocks. Worth the trek if you are a seasoned hiker, but otherwise, may pass.

Late April weekday visit. Only a few cars in the parking lot. Nice views from Sam's Point. Walked the VerKeerderkill Falls trail (note: start not well marked, only about 200 feet down the ice caves trail on the left). Very rocky! Bring good boots and pants are suggested as there are many bushes along the narrow trail. And it doesn't... More

This hike can be a challenging hike back for some as it is steep. The view of the falls is excellent. It is best after a good rain. Can be slippery as you cross over the falls to continue on the trail to get a good view point. You can continue around Sams Point and enjoy the ice caves, a... More

Hiked up there from the other side as a child in July. Following the stream back which lead to the falls was a crystal clear icy pool among the rocks. It was surrounded by Mountain Laurel and wild blueberries. What a fairy tale site it was. About 20 year later, I took a group of friends and our families with... More

I'll always have very fond memories of VerKeerderkill Falls, especially since I got engaged here! This place is just breathtaking and as the sign near the falls says, 'one of the last beautiful places in the world.' The hike to the ice caves is really fun with lots of crevices and ladders. It's really cool to go during the summer... More
