What a great site to visit, worth the walk. I go there all times of the year, all hours. There is a ton of wildlife. Caution at dusk in the spring....a lot of baby deer.

It's abit of a walk to the lighthouse from the parking aera, but it's worth it, I was here on a windy, so we couldn't up, but still the museum and the surrounding nature is spectaculair.

Since Hurricane Sandy many changes have occurred on Long Island. The Fire Island Lighthouse has been in renovation to fix the base which holds it above the sand dunes. The new boardwalk takes you on a beautiful stroll through the marshland where you view deer, fox, birds.....The boardwalk moves you towards the new museum building which stores the oldest lights... I took my daughter here because we see this place in the distance numerous times. There is a lot of history here. If you climb to the top of the lighthouse, you will get a certificate.

Fire island lighthouse is a peaceful place. It's good to leave the city and go to this place for a visit. You can enjoy the nature and quietness. You can spend a whole day there. It has trees and sands round this area. If you want to relax yourself, I would recommend this place even though this place doesn't have... More

It is a beautiful, peaceful place to view Fire Island and the Atlantic Ocean. Nice walk from Field 5, Robert Moses State Park.

Visited Robert Moses State Park and made the hike to the lighthouse. You have to park in lot 5 and walk about a mile up the boardwalk to the lighthouse. One you get there the first building shows the ruins of the first lighthouse and the old light from the first 1800's, this alone was worth the walk. The guide... More

I grew up on Long Island and hadn't been home in decades, and saw this listed as "Things to Do" on my hotel website. I'm glad I went. I love lighthouses and this one does not disappoint. It is run by the National Park Service in conjunction with volunteers. There is the museum piece with the original light and a... More
