Just back from a month doing conservation volunteering on Cousin so I got to know the island well. Obviously a day visit is something different but I suggest it is well worth doing if you love your wildlife. The island is covered with Fairy Terns, Tropic Birds, Noddys, Seychelles Warblers and Sunbirds, Giant Tortoises and lizards. With luck it is... More

You reach this island by boat. Guides are waiting for you to show you the Special Reserve. Watch for the swarm of mosquitoes as soon as you enter the Reserve. Bring a strong spray anti-mosquito and spray it all over you! There is no predators on this island and so the birds are not afraid of you! Amazing. There are... More

We looked very much forward to our trip to Cousin and where already warned that visitors where allowed just two hours on the island. But due to the system they use to bring the visitors to the island (which is understandable to prevent unwanted animals to arrive there) you already loose a half hour before you actually can start walking... We visited the island as part of a daytrip starting from Praslin. We heard and read about the project and wanted to take a look for ourself. So from our boat which was parked off the shore, we were picked up by a warden in a small boat and brought to the island (since there is no possibility to carefully... More

We did a 3 island tour - Cousin, Curieuse and St Pierre. It was a highlight of our trip to the Seychelles. The bird life on Cousin is spectacular. Tropic birds fairy terns etc. It is expensive but worth it. Really good

Cousin is a very beautiful Island situated in the Seychelles themselves situated in the Indian Ocean at the north of Madagascar. If you have the fortune to go there once in your life the only advice I have to give you is to take your camera because you’ll see so much beautiful things that you won’t stop using it… Actually... Only here can you see so many endemic Seychelles birds in one tiny island: Seychelles Warbler; Seychelles Fody; Magpie Robin, Blue Pigeon. And then you add the breeding fairy terns (too cute at all stages of their growth) and white-tailed tropic birds all the year around. We were also lucky to see a hawksbill turtle laying her eggs. We were... More

Loved seeing the turtles on this island. They were astonishing. But prepare yourself, if you are planning on walking the trail you need shoes, not flip flops and if you have young kids prepare to carry them too on that 45 minutes up and down hike. Other than that it is a beautiful little paradise.

This was our third visit to Cousin island. Our previous two visits were in July - no mosquitoes: the last visit was at the end of October and was a different story altogether! The fact that this has been a wetter year than usual in the Seychelles probably added to the bite count. So, as previously stated, cover yourself in... More

Cousin is a special treat for those who like nature and the environment. I highly recommend visiting on any trip to the Seychelles if this is of interest to you. Love the Paradise Flycatchers which are not to missed.
