It was a spectacular peak autumn day in Pleasant Valley, Sunday October 16th at 80 degrees. The visit to Pleasant Valley Wine Company was nostalgic in seeing it being revived by the current private owner. We have fond memories of Great Western Winery of the 1960's with tours though out to include the champagne vault where 'racking' was demonstrated, outstanding... More

Not sure why this place has such high ratings. The wine was not good. I would never try a sherry but likely my husband did and it was outstanding- we bought a bottle! They also had a number of champagnes but we didn't try. Maybe stick with the sherry? It's also very dark and dreary inside.

Our tour guide provided a great tour of the winery and a significant amount of the history behind the winery which is one of the oldest in the Finger Lakes area. Following the tour we were treated to a great wine tasting.

While there's a small museum and of course wine/sherry/champagne tasting, the tour really makes the visit to Pleasant Valley shine. They have numerous buildings on the National Register of Historic Places and have the dubious honor of being US Bonded No. 1 (first winery to be taxed in the US). After climbing into a van, tour-takers are driven back up... More

Two noticeable pluses for this winery over others we visited; no charge for tasting and a museum to inform. Friendly staff and helpful. Better known for sparkling wines and sherry but a little something for all tastes.

Take the tour , you'll learn about this historical winery and why it has survived for so many years. The visitors center and tasting area and retail store is combined in the lower level, the storage and production is located in the stone and large buildings above. You will be able to taste many different types of wines , dessert,... More

We took the winery tour and walked through the museum. Our tour guide was a young man who grew up in the area, whose grandfather had worked at the winery in it's heyday. He was enthusiastic. The tour was very interesting and the facility was impressive. All the wines we tasted were good and prices were reasonable. Highly recommend the... More

Free tastings, a wine "museum," friendly knowledgeable staff and very tasty, affordable wines! Enjoyed the cream sherry and the chocolate lab. Highly recommend if you are in the Hammondsport area.

It's always a nice trip to the Pleasant Valley Wine company near beautiful Keuka Lake. Our very first winery ever visited 29 years ago, then part of Taylor. What an evolution through the years-some bad and some good. We didn't have much time, but still had a free tasting in the large tasting room. There's champagnes on the list to... More

We loved it here. We only wished we could have tasted it all. Try to cover everything. We tired a very good sparkling wine, a chocolate lab, a port, Madeira wine and even a sherry we liked them all. We are only sorry we didn't plan better our visit here, we heard the tour is great and you can learn... More
