Due to travel to Sunset beach hotel in December but have just been informed by tour operator that due to recent high tides the beach outside this hotel has completely eroded and need to access another beach at Kombo beach hotel by walking through gardens etc. How far is this? Does anyone know? Could get very crowded with 2 hotel patrons sharing seen beds/umbrellas etc especially over Christmas.

Yes, it is OK of you are a good swimmer but the currents are quite strong so just be aware of this and don't go out too far.
