More
PRI's Museum of the Earth was established in 2003 to provide visitors with a unique opportunity to explore our world through a mix of natural history displays, interactive science features, and art exhibitions. The museum's 8,000-square-foot permanent exhibition takes visitors on a journey through 4.5 billion years of history, from the Earth's origin to the present day. Through hands-on, visual exhibitions and outreach, the Museum of the Earth encourages critical thinking about life on Earth in the past and today, and how our species is affecting the natural world.

The museum was small but interesting. Take time to read about history of its founders near the entrance. Does not take long to tour. Small gift shop.

I was so excited to see this museum! Great artifacts and photo ops although smaller than I anticipated. Friendly staff and reasonably priced.

One of the side-effects of having moved all over the country over the last five years is that I've been to a LOT of museums just like this; we were only there last week, and I already can't remember too much that stood out to...More

I visit the Museum of the Earth a few times each year and it is usually enjoyable. Ithaca is a respectively small city, so to have something like this here is pretty awesome. They have a lot of great hand-me-downs from the Smithsonian, which are...More

Hardly anyone goes here because it's a bit out of the way. It was TERRIFIC fun and had many interesting exhibits for all ages. The whale skeleton on display is awesome. The gift shop had some neat things.

The whole family was able to enjoy the Museum of the Earth. Our 3 year old son loved the dinosaur area where he could pretend to be a paleontologist and my 10 year old daughter loved looking at the fossils. The museum has a great...More

Who would have thought that a world-class fossil collection and reconstruction was lurking in the outskirts of Ithaca? Perhaps the most surprising thing about the Museum of the Earth is the large pile of fossil-rich rock out front where you can dig and collect your...More
