This is perfect for non seasoned hikers. It is not very long like some other hikes in the area and will only take about 2 hours of your time. We are most certainly not seasoned hikers, but really loved Mount Jo. The view of Heart...More

Family hiked, youngest a 10 year old boy, in mid-August. Lots of large rocks. Has a couple of muddy spots and not much view until the top. Two trail choices, one up, one down is the usual choice. A very popular hike.

Mount Jo is one of the more doable Adirondack Hikes. There is an easy and a harder route. Nice reward when you reach the top. Now A little trivia. The base of Mt. Joe is at the Adirondack Loj. The creator didn't like to waste...More

I got the idea of hiking Mount Jo from Tripadvisor looking for things to do in Lake Placid. My wife and I arrived, after following directions the first right hand turn after the Ski Jumps on Rt. 73, all the way to the end (dead...More

This is a hike we do each year when we visit the Lake Placid area. Our kids love it even though it can be challenging in certain spots. The short trail isn't much harder than the long. The views from the top are wonderful.

This was the most challenging hike we've done with our children (6 and 8), and it was a crowd-pleaser for sure. We took the short trail up and the long trail down. Thumbs up for the friendly summit host, who gladly snapped a picture for...More

Nice hike with a nice view from the top. Trail was very well maintained. We were a group that ranged in range from 8 to 80. Everyone made it to the top, but it was a challenge for our senior family member. Even the long...More

This is a great hike to attempt in a 2-4 hour window. Our whole group (parents and teens) enjoyed it. It is challenging (climbing across rocks, with some steep sections), fairly short, with good views from the top. Both the short (1 mile) and long...More

Took a Bachelor party up this mountain. Forecast called for 60% chance of rain and we lucked out that there was no rain. This is a fairly easy hike. We went up the short (harder) path and down the long (easier) route. Mud wasn't too...More

I would say there's a few different routes if you want to spend all day there or even a few hours. We did the shortest trek and I'd say it about 4 miles and it took us all day because of the incline. If you're an... More

Lake Placid has a free trolley service that runs through the main parts of town. I don't think it runs out to Mt. Jo, which is about a 10-15 minute drive from Main Street. There may be special drop offs requested but you... More
