Hire a cab and head for the hills

Take a respite from the hot steamy climate of equatorial Sao Tome and hire a local cab to take you up to the cool hills. For a reasonable price (negotiate) you can get an... read more

The hike to the peak, allegedly, takes two days and requires preparations like finding a good guide and hauling all the stuff necessary to spend the night on the halfway. When we wanted to climb, the weather was wet and we heard the path could be slippery, muddy and dangerous. So, we basically chickened out and settled for the shorter... More

Pico Sao Tomé is the highest mountain in tha island of Sao Tome. It is 2024 meters high. It lies in the middle of the island (Pico Cao Grande is in the south of the island). I think that you can climb it, but I didn't as it was starting rainy season and it is not recommeded if you're not... More

If abject poverty is your thing Sao Tome is the place for you. Even the government buildings i downtown are in disrepair except the presidential palace. The only highlight of our visit was our tour guide Nelvin of Biotour-STP. He was proud of his island and hid nothing from us on our tour but is optimistic that things will get... More

Take a respite from the hot steamy climate of equatorial Sao Tome and hire a local cab to take you up to the cool hills. For a reasonable price (negotiate) you can get an air-conditioned car or van to drive you over often-rutted roads through the jungle to the uplands. First stop will be the waterfall, a nice photo opp.... More

We can highly recommend the French-owned agency, Mistral, who organised a good day's trip to see the Monte Café and Bombain plantations. Ideally we would have liked to have visited Agostinho Neto cacau plantation as well on the same tour, but this isn't on offer. Maybe the agencies could consider this?

I saw the Pico Sao Tome from Bombain Plantation.Quite a view as it is misty with clouds or a good rainbow after showers.I hear it's difficult getting to that part of Obo National Park.

I've been there with my girlfriend and two guides and it was really difficult to reach the top. We did it in two days, there's no signs and even our guides lost. From the top you can see all the island and the view is beautiful but usually you can't see a thing because mostly there's fog and heavy clouds.... More

The mountain peak is very picturesque, but not as impressive as Pico Con Grande, the tubular tower.
