The authentic, original Source of the Nile Site, where the British Explorer Speke first discovered the River Nile (of course the Africans knew there was a river, but anyway..). Stand where he stood, take a picture with the monument, go for boatrides across the river nile and into Lake Victoria, see monkeys, monitor lizards, pythons (and maybe even an authentic African Witchdoctor). The site also allows for camping, nature walks, parties and occasions with a truly spectacular nature setting. Ideal for Birdwatching and anyone looking for 1 day tour in the Ugandan Countryside.

The boat ride out was quite nice, but the destination was not very exciting. It's worth doing if you are in the area, but it is not worth a special trip.

This may have been exciting once but there is not much to see as the dam just a bit downstream has removed any falls of particular interest.

By all means visit the source of the Nile. It's kind of like a bucket list thing. Or, if your schoolboy head was full of African explorers and tales of Livingstone et al, then you will love this place. You have to endure an awful track to get there but its worth the effort. The memorial itself is underwhelming though... More

Had an extra day on the weekend during an extended business trip. Drove out to Jinja and the touristy Head of the Nile. Your enjoyment of this outing will vary greatly depending on if you have a local with you that can cut through the hustling that happens at the river side. Taking a boat out to the source is... Source of Nile Gardens located on the western shore of the river, just by the "source". There is a Speke's monument, restaurant, trees and great view to the river and lake. However, don't expect anything more than this. The word gardens is far from truth. Also the entrance fee 10k/5k doesn't make much sense to me.

Do not expect too great. And pick a good guide. We took a boat ride which is around 45minutes. Ask the boat man to show you the source of Nile, the speke monument and wildlife surrounding the area.

Its a nice place to be but you can add more value if choose for an hour boat ride to lake Victoria and end the trip at reptile park.

On an excellent boat trip to the source of the Nile, we saw all kinds of exciting birds, as well as African Clawless Otter. The guide really knew his stuff, and his enthusiasm enhanced our enjoyment.

I wasn't expecting too much from this but was very pleasantly surprised. Our guide was very good and the bird life quite remarkable. I am not a big bird fan but you have to be impressed by the number and variety of birds that live in this part of the Nile. I enjoyed the source of the Nile and the... More
