Jacques Cartier State Park, located on the St. Lawrence River a few miles west of Ogdensburg, NY, is a delightful place to spend a summer day. Unlike the larger parks, it is not overrun with people and provides a relaxing atmosphere in which to enjoy the sun, swim, read or just hang out with someone special. The park is well... More

We were invited to take a trail walk in Jacques Cartier Park with the Park Manager, Shaun O'Day and a member of his staff, Jon Gardener. They met us a the trailhead and led us along a stream into the woods. As we were walking they talked to use about the different trees and plants. When we arrived at a... More

If you knew that you weren't suppose to swim off your site , why would you do it? Then blame the Park employees for asking you not too. I doubt very much that they yelled but politely asked you not to do it. It's a well known fact that clotheslines are prohibited in all state parks why would you put... More

In Jacques Cartier, You cant go swimming off your sight at all! I know that no state park allows it, but when someone sees you swimming they don't care. Here they yell at you and tell you that if you want to swim we must go down to a crowded beach. Also they're so stupid they don't even let you... More

We camped late in the season and it ended up being pretty cold and our site pretty wet. We didn't think we'd end up having so much fun. The views and sites are fantastic and the State Park employee Frank brought us some dry wood and lighter fluid and we got a fire going! Thanks Frank!! Clean bathrooms, close to... More

Drove the travel trailer for an overnight stay-cation. Stayed at site106. Was so happy that it wasn't one of those overcrowded campsites that looks like a parking lot. The area was well maintained, quiet, plenty of room on each lot. Also the bath house was clean as was the playground. Helpful friendly staff. Can't wait to go again.

I come here every year to camp and it's a nice park with beautiful views of the St. Lawrence and Brockville. PROS: - The sunsets are breathtaking! - The bathroom facilities are clean and not crowded anymore because most people have RV's. - It's a great place for people with boats -- it has a nice boat launch and docks.... Been to this lovely spot during the Memorial holiday 2013. Very clean, not too big, and beautifully planned campsite with a spacious day use area and facilities. The sandy beach is in a bay, hence is protected from the river currents, it is about 60 meters wide. Children playground is close by too, and is slightly away from the camps.... More

Hiking and camping on the St. Lawrence...clean and nice.... a good little find! There is a private beach and nice camp sites - also has day picnic area and a boat launch. Hidden away I was glad I came upon this by accident- there are two hiking trails which I will try out next year!

Have been to Jacques Cartier many times over the years, starting when I when the school used to take kids on the "swimming bus." It was quite new then. It is a pleasant accessible place for family reunions or just a day at the park with the family.
